Combat Realism Overhaul Mod

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 3:59 pm

I can't really bare the game with weapon damage being tied to skill. That, and the excessive amount of HP allocated to my character and all others in-game. Reason being, I want my .44 magnum to inflict the same amount of damage, regardless of my skill. If I hit the enemy, then the bullet should take care of the rest.

Regarding HP, I would very much like it if combat was more deadly. Having entire magazines unloaded onto me and surviving isn't that fun. Even so when I return the favour.

Thoughts? Comments? Ideas? Is there such a mod in the works?

Basically i'm after a mod that:

a - Reduces overall allocation of HP to all enemies, NPC's and my own character.
b - Makes hit damage a constant. E.g., the old Gauss rifle with a guaranteed 40 damage.

I use two mods currently.

One that reduces the HP of everything in the game to 1/4

and one that nearly doubles the damage of all weapons.

It has made my playing experience much more fun.

As for skill not modifying weapon damage, I can't help you with that.

I take it back. After checking out hardercore, I think that's what you're looking for. Hell it's probably what I'm looking for too. I'm gonna try it out :)

I hear you on the skill not affecting damage (except critical hits like in Hardercore). Also, I had a working tweak in FO3 where skill was tied to weapon spread and didnt affect damage, but the same values in NV dont work at all from what i can see. Ive asked for help in the geck forums but havent had luck there.

As for making the game more challenging, i use Arwen's Realism Tweaks and would readily recommend it to anyone. It tweaks much more than just the combat mechanics though. Its still in development so some of the features that were in ART for FO3 have yet to be put in. Arwen's also said she planned to tweak how skill affects aim in future versions. Check it out in addition to those already recommended. Might be what you're looking for.

You mean you want gun skill to affect how well you aim, reload, repair, draw, and holster guns? Not the physical properties of ammunition? How does that make any sense, what a ridiclou-

Never mind, awesome idea

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried both Hardercore and Arwens Realism, but was largely unsatisfied.

Check the video below, that's Arwens "Realism" for you:

Anyway, Jester814, where do I get these files you mentioned?:

Uhh, a few problems.

What's your explosives skill? The red shield means that your target's DT is higher than the damage you're doing.

Second, the mod is still in development...
