Combat situations where everything went wrong...

Got any battle stories where everything was against you, but you won because of pure luck or by some mysterious divine intervention?

As for me, this happened a long time ago. But I still remember it. I think it's my favourite combat in my whole playthrough with Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

Fallout 2's New Reno spoilers ahead!

My character, an evil slaver/merc meets a woman in the Bishop's Casino, the headquarters of their mafia. This woman, none other than the Bishop's wife, seduces my character and invites him for "a glass of wine" in her private quarters. Jason Winston, my character, is also a six addict. He is known in New Reno for his role in advlt movies and the prosttutes know his name.

So, after getting done with the Bishop's wife, she falls asleep. In her sleep, she says the combination to the crimelord's safe, which I open and loot. But then, on my way out, I see a man in green with two armed guards waiting for me.

As soon as I cross the doorframe, the dialog between him and me goes in the line of :

"You!! What are you doing here!? Explain yourself! Now!"
"I..erm.. I banged your wife! Gotta run!"

Combat starts (Wohoo!). I painfully manage to take the Bishop and his two guards down with many stimpacks. But then I think : "Damn. The first floor is crowded with guards. How the hell am I getting out of this!?"

I decide to take two shot of Jet for more movement (Which got me addicted for the rest of the game), then I proceed downstairs. As soon as I'm on the first floor, 5 guards start shooting at me. I quickly run away, trying to evade the bullets, but 5 more guards attack me. Each turn, I have 10 guards trying to kill me. I use a stimpack at almost every turn to stay alive. When I finally manage to cross the entrance, the two doormen get their tommy guns and shoot me. That's 2 more guards.

I manage to get on the street and proceed to the exit grid when I notice that a prosttute, behind me, just got shot in the back by a bullet that missed me. At that moment, the tide of battle turns in my favor. With their friend dead, every single prosttute in the Central New Reno area get their knives and jump on Bishop's guards. Not only the prosttutes, but their pimps as well, who are equipped with guns.
To add to the battle, one of the pimp misses a guard and the bullet hits one of the casino's gamblers. Now, every gamblers in the casino attack the prosttutes and the pimps.

It was a real western in there, with bullets flying everywhere, prosttutes stabbing gamblers to death, the pimps getting shot or shooting the guards. Of course, I helped the prosttutes and their pimps. But, in the end, there was only a guard left, whom I killed.
The streets in front of Bishop's casino was filled with blood and bodies. So was the inside of the casino itself. The pimps' bodies were filled with Jet, so that was most useful. As for the rest, I spent days selling the loot I got from the Casino. :D

Never had anything happen to that extent lol. Sounded pretty crazy, wish I could've seen that episode.

The only battle that everything went wrong was when I was fighting spoiler...

The Deathclaws in Vault 13 (Fallout 2). I had actually thought they were agressive and would attack me. I carefully opened the door and greeted them with my stupid combat shotgun to gain the upperhand before they wail on me (I was a pretty low level at the time and had so much trouble just killing 1 Deathclaw). Remembering from Fallout 1, I shot them in the eyes and actually got a lucky critical on the first Deathclaw. Well, that luck ended when all they did was hit criticals on my character and kept knocking him over... Well, I had tried to keep killing them load after load, but then when all hope was lost I checked on a strategy guide because I thought the developers were just making this game impossible to beat (Fallout 2 is very hard, and like Fallout 1 requires a lot of strategy), and found out that I was being stupid and the Deathclaws were actually friendly lol. Also, what kept me from gaining more experience was the fact that the settlement healer kept telling me how the village was suffering.

Said this on the forums tosn of times. I should just qoute it next time

Fallout 3

Theres a HUGE river seperating 4 raiders and 2 super mutants. The super mutants have assult rifles and miniguns. I was lvl 2 and getting killed by the raiders, when a group of 4 hunters come along and shoot them down. Im hididng behind a car for soem cover from the miniguner. The car catches on fire and is ready to explode, when I run. A hunter is sitting next to the car. When it explodes I nearly die, and the hunters body flies over to me. The others took out the assult rifle mutant. I pick up the dead hunters Hunting Rifle, shoot across the river (WHICH IS HUGE), and get a headshot, killing the mutant with a minigun

Okay, Jason's backstory is so making it into Crapton/Unity (if you still want your character in it).

As for my own story of manly heroics, I was recently in Vault City, trying to gain access to the Vault after obtaining some less-than-authentic citizenship papers. My conversation with Lynette went like this:
"Can I get into the Vault?"
"Only citizens are allowed in there."
"Oh, but I AM a citizen!"

Of course, she recognized the forgery right away, and I was left with no choice but to make a run for it, and pray to god that I made it to Lenny in time to be healed.
Thanks to some lucky positioning, the guards completely dismembered Lynette instead of me, and I managed to make a run for it.

I think I got as far as the front gate before I was finally taken down. So, maybe not exactly a "everything went wrong but I got out of it okay" situation, but I very nearly survived!

Then I learned I could've just fixed the power plant and gotten citizenship for free. Durrr. :D

Eh, nothing nearly as interesting as you folks described, but taking on all of the Regulators of Adytum by myself with a mid-level character was cool, as were some of the fights with large slaving groups!

Hmmm I don't like this Set guy I think I'll kill him and his entire gang for the lulz

The moral of the story here kiddies is never fight a turn-based battle against 20 adversaries who shuffle agonizingly slow to thrust spears into your spleen.

As for me, with Lynette it went like this (Still with Jason Winston)

"Yes? Can I help you?"
"You are OBVIOUSLY not the one I need to be speaking to. Fetch the Overseer at once, woman."
"Woman!? I am First Citizen Lynette. Guards! Deal with this outsider!"
"You got a PROBLEM with Outsiders, woman?"
*Combat sequence, activated*
*Run away!* :D

For Crapton, which "Jason Winston" are you interested in? Because the one I submitted to you was my Fallout 3 character, the typical lawful sheriff-like person. While my Fallout 2 character is the complete opposite. He's a Slaver, grave robber, child killer and pormstar. ;)
He's some sort of a raider, but....erm...more.... "civilised". He has friends in high places. He's also a well respected man in New Reno and the town where the slaver guild is.
