Combat System Blows, Tremendously.

Post » Mon Mar 03, 2014 9:47 am

Seriously, title says it all. They should have incorporated everything from Skyrim's flawless combat system into this game, except save the spell casting because it's an MMORPG and needs that insta-cast to keep it paced, although I'm starting to come to the conclusion that should be reverted also for that realistic effect of casting a spell. But the Archery, Dual Wielding, and One and Two handed combat is so junk right now. I mean sure it's in beta but they got A MONTH until it's released. I hope to god they see this and take it into serious consideration because they need to. Also characterization. That needs to be more precise like Skyrim also. It's like everyone was hoping for Skyrim but MMORPG and we got Morrowind with revamped textures and models. It's sad because I love the Elder Scrolls and was looking forward to this SO MUCH...

Why? Have you ever read in any spell casting lore that they instantly cast a spell? Take DragonLance for instance, it takes time and concentration, Raistlin doesnt just throw a huge spell like a fireball out of no where. I understand the measly spells like might not take casting time but seriously, Skyrim had it going good in that aspect.

I feel like most of you are stuck up Bethesdas ass on how perfect there games were, I'm not saying Skyrim was flawless just the spell casting and combat system. I had to heavily mod Skyrim to ensure ambient lighting and flora was perfect. ESO just doesn't feel like and Elder Scrolls AT ALL. They just need to revamp things.

Typical hater. ^^

game is awesome. Why do people who obviously hate the game seem to love to waste their time telling everyone else "the game svcks"?. If you don't like it then go play something you do like.

Not a hater at ALL. I see so much potential in this game, I'm such a fan of Elder Scrolls that the word hater and Elder Scrolls in one sentence isn't even possible in my vocabulary. Like I've been saying it just needs a LOT of work and they should post-pone the release several months.

True enough to know you don't judge a fan by the day they joined the Forums. I've been with Bethesda and Elder Scrolls since Arena. And I wasn't even born when that game came out.

TES games have never had flawless combat systems, in melee combat at least..

The combat in Skyrim/Oblivion were very very lacking in any real depth when it came to melee combat.

A game like Dark Souls, Severance, Rune, etc has far more in-depth combat systems that are more visceral and fun to play.

I have to say this is really all personal opinions and it doesn't matter who says what about it. Just the fact that people who agree, agree. And who disagree, disagree. And my personal opinion on how true Elder Scrolls games should be are listed above.

I continued reading after the 'realistic spell' [censored], but "That needs to be more precise like Skyrim also." caught me off guard... It's not Skyrim. It's an MMO.

AND the combat system is pretty [censored] majestic for an MMO.

Still, should've incorporated the same system. It worked and it could definitely work for an MMO.

While yes, combat could use some improvements (if what I heard is true and NPC collision detection is implemented, they're on the right track) ... but "Skyrim's flawless combat system"? Cough ... come on, that was not that much better.

I have no loyalty to Bethesda. Never played Fallout... I hated Oblivion. I really enjoyed Skyrim, but that was mostly for the modding community.

I think this game is great. Most fun I've had with an MMO in years.

That is exactly what the combat system is. You have your light and heavy attacks and a bar for your skills. How is this not what you are asking for?

We aim to select a target instead of using a pointer or tab, i think he was hoping for a system where the aim would direct the blow like in Skyrim or Chivalry.

If you don't think that's the case, go grab a bow, aim over an enemy and draw a heavy attack, then aim stright into the ground, or why not in the opposite direction and see if it hits.(Spoiler:It will :P)
