So in Oblivion you had about five moves and melee fights were reduced to you and your opponent rushing at each other and button mashing and maybe one of you would block or something. It was very repetitive and boring.
Yep, totally agree :foodndrink:
In the new game there should be at least 3 times as many moves and just as many blocking moves (blocking with your weapon I mean. Obviously it would be kind of hard to think up and work in any special kind of special blocking maneuvers with a shield). The moves could be random or depend on a number of variables like how close the enemy is or if he's attacking or not or the amount of time that passes between hitting the attack button. Blocks could also depend on what attack you just used and/or where your sword is so that it all flows smoothly.
Erm, would these be done but specific series of buttons, mouse click and direction, etc? If yes, then count me out! I had a hard enough time trying to impliment OB's few special maneuvers; there's no way I could handle more! :mohawk: Simple is good since it's less of a video game
There could also be a system where you could learn different styles of combat. Alternatively, each race could have a different fighting style, though that could cause problems. A third suggestion is to have different moves depending on the type of weapon.
It'd be nice to see a 4-paw cat attack or a lizard tail slap
But....I'm betting that the combat system, styles, etc. were all done at least a year ago? But, maybe your ideas would work for an ES VI?
Morrowind combat made no sense. If I stick my sword into someone it should hurt them, regardless if I have spent a lot of time training. Think of how many people have committed murder using a weapon they haven't had months of experience with. Maybe have some kind of dice rolls for glancing or critical blows, but I want a realistic combat experience.
It made total sense; keep clicking until the darned enemy was dead! It never once bothered me that my blows never registered :toughninja: Maybe it's my old PnP background
