Combined HD demo video

Post » Tue Sep 27, 2011 3:07 am

Since I got some extra spare time left I've been tinkering a bit with my favorite video editing software and I've combined the three HD demo videos in only one video, seamlessly integrating the audio and video transitions between the three videos and mixing the audio tracks together at the end of each part [e.g. you can actually hear the dragon roar, which we left outside the dungeon at the end of the 1st part, at the beginning of the 2nd part]. I have also lowered the original bitrate from CBR 35Mbps to CBR 20Mbps, which is the standard HD720p bitrate. Basically the HD videos available for download on joystiq.com are a little too heavy, the video bandwidth doesn't need to be that wide for this video quality/format. Hence the combined video size is a little below the total size of the three videos, with no image quality loss. Since its bitrate is lower, the video can also be played smoothly on mid-range PCs which can't play HD videos.

Combined video size: 3,0Gb vs. a total 3,3Gb of the original videos
Length: 21'41"
Container format: MP4
Video Codec: AVC
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio bitrate: 256kbs @ 48Khz
Video bitrate: CBR 20Mbps

http://www.2shared.com/video/83RO4m0n/SkyrimDemoSample.html is a sample of the video, it's the transition from the 1st to the 2nd part. And before you ask, no, I can't do absolutely nothing against the original screen tearing.

Are you guys interested in this? If so I can upload it somewhere, provided I won't break any copyright rules, which I'm very concerned about. Thoughts?

If it isn't against the rules (and I can't see why it would be), I'd love for you to upload it! I'm a bit of a hoarder, especially with regards to Skyrim info, so having all three of those videos in one would be great.

Seconded :D Yeah dude, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could upload the video (assuming, as others have said, it isn't against any rules...which it shouldn't be, right?)

Yes please! That sample looked pretty good. And try and upload it in 1080p even if it is only 720.

Shouldn't be, it's not like it is off camera footage, and it is the same concept as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9MBqdME14I, was split into parts but then fused into one. :tops:

If you can do a hig quality 60fps version (so without any too obvious artefacts), I'd be interested. The plugin and script I'm using for realtime-motion-interpolation is "ok", but not great.

Now why would I want to do that? no upscaling rendering can be any better than your player's.

Uploading now, it will take me a while.. in the meantime I might appreciate an opinion from a mod.

It's very unlikely I'm going to do that, I don't mean to improve the video quality in any way.

I did a 60fps conversion, it took all night for the first part. Unfortunately, I rendered it in low quality. :sadvaultboy: But dang, does it look good!

It's not like you can make a 60fps video anyway. Video can be captured raw at that speed but it can't be placed in a standard viewable format at that rate.

Huh? Of course it can (see Battlefield 3 videos).

@Luke Skyrimmer
Which program did you use? Can you do an HQ HD version?

Crap. This morning I had a power outage, I have to reupload the whole damn thing.

Huh? I can't spot any issues on rendering it as a 60fps HD video, it's not going to be authored on DVD anyway.
