"Come here you stupid dragon!" Shout

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:33 pm

In most of the interviews about dragons they mention that they won't always automatically attack you, but you can get their attention by shooting arrows or fireballs at them, but what about characters who don't use archery or magic? how will you get their attention? Will any dragon shouts attract them? Even if they are far away? Or will you just have to hope it wants to munch your face and comes down? I wouldn't mind one (dragon shout) just for that purpose. How do you guys think this will be handled?

Just run up below them, that is all I would see needed to catch their attention. A shout dedicated to taunting seems unnecessary.

I think the dragon was summoned to fight for you (that's the only dragon summon shout I've read about).

Maybe there is a shout that has a berserk effect, that can be called a Warrior's Challenge or whatnot that might force a dragon to attack.

Dragons probably wont attack you early in the game unless your going somewhere they don't want you, after a certain point I do expect them to AOS you in the game.

A taunt that makes them charge head first at you.

If you would time it right, it'd be cool to see a dragon go headfirst into a tree giving you time to gather yourself after the first dodge.

^I think that'd be cool. But I think they'll just attack us if they want

I would think the opposite. You stare at a dragon too long and it feels threatened, gets pissed and starts to attack you.

If that doesn't work, channel your inner Scorpion from Mortal Combat; "Get over here!!"

Dragon mating call perhaps?

Well, if you want to fight the dragon and have no range options you could always just chase after it untill it spots you. Its gotta land eventually. Even if it doesn't, if you chase after it and keep it with in sight it'll probably go after you eventually.

This has got me thinking though. Seeing a dragon at night is going to be one of the most scary sweet parts of this game. Expecially if they can use that teleport shout that we seem to be able to get as well. I can see the burning villages on the dark horizon now...

I hope your right ( Todd said that Dragons are unscripted and do as the please ).. Because with my luck I will be getting attacked a lot if not ..That is the only thing that I am concerned about for my first 5 lvl's.. I'll be doing a lot of running and hiding with my Mage :bolt: :ninja:...

Now I can't wait to come walking over a hill at night to see a town being attacked by a dragon. Only for me to come down and rescue them all, or loot thier houses during the chaos, which ever mood I'm in.

i think that if you dont use magic or archery then you should lose to the dragon. and since you would need to defeat dragons to get more dragon shouts its a downward spiral. going against a dragon should require at least some sort of ranged ability.

You should be able to perhaps make some offensive gesture at the dragon, or insult the dragons mother (If the dragons have mothers?), or maybe if you flap your arms trying to fly the dragon will feel mocked and attack? Just something to hurt the dragons feelings, resulting in the dragon becoming enraged. Or maybe just wave a torch or a flag, or blow a horn or something like that. Though personally I like the above idea.
