Commandeering A second Home

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 10:01 am

Ok so, I was a big fan in Morrowind and Oblivion on taking houses that didn't belong to me; actually I would kill a shopkeeper and take over the store. I have heard now that if you kill the shopkeepr, the descendents and children will take over the business. I suppose this means I'm going to have to kill the whole family. Nevertheless, anyone else take over a store or home other than the buyable ones? Fun stories to share?

That brings up a related interesting question, how many family members are there? Is it possible to kill them all, or will the game generate generic NPC's to replace the ones you've killed so your game isn't ruined?

I hope so.. I also hope they make it so you can sleep in someone's bed when they're dead instead of oblivions "you cant sleep in an owned bed" blocking you from actually making it your home.

I'm not so sure I would trust obtaining a home that way, unless I know for sure that any available storage would be usable without my things disappearing. Plus I wouldn't really want to get caught breaking the law that way with my main character.

Nah it was really fun. What I did was I (by the way, when I discovered how to pick up objects without putting them in your inventory, I like died a little from euphoria) put all of my stuff up on the shelves and the counters. I set it up awesome. My brother and I had competitions to see whose store home was better oriented and set up. It was really fun. But yeah, we couldnt sleep in the beds (we just had to sleep elsewhere if we had to sleep). That brings up a good point, with the NPC's being created. I hope not. I mean, the realism created by the fact that we'd have to kill the entire family is a more life like challenge I'll look forward to. However if new NPC's just take over, I would be angry, because I always take over a shop; thats my goal for any RPG. Did it in ES, in Fallout. Its tradition.

Oh, all of the times that I've ever taken over a house and used their storage... I think the most of it I left on the counters, but the trunks and stuff are safe. Well I never had any problems with disappearing items.
