Commonwealth Expansion

exactly to the above post, they're gonna make fallout 4, it prob gonna be a while, thats partly also why i think FO3 will still have more content, because falllout 4 won't be out for a while. and even though FO3 could be considered complete and be a great game as is, i believe the possibility is there for more content, its a very popular game and a big moneymaker i would think. well i'm hoping for more on this game thats for sure. :shifty:

The new content will be New Vegas, out in just over a year. That's a pretty quick turn-a-round for a Fallout game, or a game of this size.

Commonwealth will most likely be the prominent feature in Fallout 4, considering how it was introduced & hinted at in FO3 (not to mention, the fact that Dr Li leaves for it after the main quest ends). It contains enough material for an entire game (androids, mad scientists) -> something similar to Terminator: Rise of the Machines, perchance?

LOL Bethsda is not making fallout 4... they gave rights to someone else wait wait what is fallout 4? do u mean fallout: new vegas?i havn't heard of fallout 4. hehe they r actaully making BRINK before they do anything on TESV if it comes out

Bethesda is the only one with the rights to Fallout. They will eventually make it. New Vegas is a spin-off by Obsidian. They are not making BRINK, only publishing it.

It is wise to get your facts right.

No matter which way the Commonwealth comes into being, it'll become a watered down, third rate power(just as the Enclave was made into, during Fallout 3).

The Commonwealth as many have stated refers to the remains of the state of Massachussetts which is way too big for even an SI sized expansion, much less a DLC. An expasnion would probably have a single large city such as Boston while a DLC would probably limit itself mainly to the Institute (Formerly MIT).

There are plenty of unmentioned vaults within the list that can be potential new homes for the protagonist of Fallout 4 within the Commonwealth. They can also include plenty of half rebult cities and communities with a new storyline and new factions to make an entirely new game. Frankly I think that the Commonwealth would best be served by being used as the central location of Fallout 4 rather than being reduced to a small patch of land in a DLC.

Beth aslo stated repeatedly that they have no interest in making full expansions anymore since they can provide smaller packages filled with quests, armors, weapons, npcs, and anything else they want to try in DLCs which are faster to create, cost less to produce and still sell very well to turn a tidy profit. So I wouldn't get my hopes for an actual expansion of any kind for Fallout 3.

As far as is known about New Vegas, it is not a direct sequel to Fallout 3 so it isn't related to the storyline presented here; however it is the same engine and will probably be the same gameplay style as Fallout 3, but Obsidian is developing it. And given the quality of Obsidian's latest games and the pedigree behind the dev team, odds are it will make a very good addition to the Fallout library.

DLC means a smaller budget, small area, and limited chance to move beyond the game as we know it. Wheras Fallout 4 means a bigger budget, Bigger area, more artwork, and the chance to add new thngs such as play styles, skill use, items, etc.

I'm starting to get concerned that FO:NV is going to end up being someing like an FP NWN2 with gunz.

If it does, I won't play it.

Quite doubtful, although it would still be an improvement over Oblivion with gunz.

As long as it's not Fallout: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.* I won't complain much about the mechanics... unless they truly svck.

*When I say S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I mean vanilla not oblivion lost.

As much as I don't wanna move on from Fallout 3 I really want Beth to move on to making TESV then Fallout 4.

++

And hopefully, TES V takes the best elements from Daggerfall (dynamic roleplaying, smart dialogues), Morrowind (story, atmosphere), and Oblivion (graphics, magic system).

They could do both but as they say, All good things must come to an end. Id much prefer they focus on their next project (TESV) Besides 5 DLC packs is good enough IMO

5 just isn't enough wyatt. i think they should make at least one more big expansion and a quest pack with like 10 or 20 more quests in the existing world.

THIS THIS THIS, MY GOD THIS.

That sentence should be put into marble and hung on the front office wall of Bethesda Softworks... with a neon light on all four sides... and a loud chime that draws everyone's attention to it when you come in the door.

Though I would change "magic system" to "combat" for Oblivion.

First of all why are people still crying aboot ''insert game'' with guns. Get over it....

Second for all you 360 players without live.... you are on a forum so you have internet. plug in your inet cable in the xbox, buy some microsoft points
in any store that sells them.. download the dlc's and remove the cable again.... just like me...

Store's say you need gold membership.... they talk [censored].... with silver you can download...
I never ever had microsoft points but for fallout 3 dlc's I just had to get them.

on topic: let fallout 4 be around the commonwealth, the place deserves alot of game time and I think as a DLC it would not be big enough...

I'd like to see the Commonwealth as the main setting for FO4. I think the fact that this is such a big topic justifies that the Commonwealth needs a full-game treatment with 100+ hours of gameplay.

A DLC would simply be a disservice, I think. Though I'd certainly download it, if it were, lol.

I'd probably say it'd be better makin' it for F4. I feel that the Commonwealth seems to big to fit into a DLC. Just getting a new Commonwealth map with "a few" missions wouldn't really fill all the rumors and such about this place we've heard all around the wasteland.

Hope so, both for FO4 and NV. FO3 strayed too far from its roots, sure it was more fps, but the plot just didnt seem like something the old publishers would like. I hope they get away from the "enclave=evil, BoS=good" thing they had in FO3, since the BoS would actully kill you in the other FOs, or just not add those two factions at all.

But back on topic, just like it was said earlier, the Commonwealth just wouldnt work as an expansion, and frankly, I wouldnt want to see it as an FO3 add-on. Im sure Fo4 will give us more Commonwealth goodies, especially since it wouldnt work as good in a fps style game like Fo3.

And lastly, for about the sixth time, Bethesda has no plans to make anymore DLC after MZ for FO3, unless they get an idea that will blow us away or are held a gun point, then i doubt we'll see anymore FO3 DLC.

well its 60/40 so far in favor of people who want to see the commonwealth in FO4. bethesda games generally don't have endings. its the 2000's not the 1980's so i say with all the possibilities for the game they keep on going with some new content. a mission pack, another expansion to keep game going and pack it with content. they could stop it now after MSZ and it would stand as a great game still. but in todays world its a different ballgame, there a lots of possibilities for further expansions. i don't think MSZ is the last for fallout 3. i really think more is coming that nobody knows about. in the pipeline i bet as we speak. hush hush. something to blow everyone away with. its possible. :celebration:
