[RELz] Community Bug Fix Compilation Patch

Post » Tue Nov 02, 2010 5:42 am

Sigh, and so once again it falls to the community to fix the hundreds of bugs we will eventually find. Good job thus far. I had an idea of what to expect so I went looking for unofficial patches even though I only bought the game today. Also, if anybody thinks Obsidian/Bethesda will do anything other than the bare minimum of patching required, keep dreaming. History is a pretty good indicator on the subject.

Bethesda usually fixes much of his bugs (Not all though (Many are too much engine releated). So did Obsidian on NWN2 and they wanted to on Kotor2 and AP but on both projects the publishers decided to say [censored] YOU and prevented further patches (for whatever reasons))

Edit: Seriously there are leagues between release F3 and 1.7 F3

Would it be possible to have expanded what is and is not included from the FOOK changes?

By the way there are many stuff left from fallout 3 i think engine would be far more cleaner if they would remove all unnecessary stuff at least ...
for example i was scouting FalloutNV.esm and found Sheriff of Megaton also many other characters (most of them are nearly working condition but some can be fixed up and used too but it's too bad if they leave a garbage behind from old game but any way at least game works that's all ready better than nothing ) .

Unfortunately, this has become a working business model, at least for PC game developers. That there are modding communities performing the 'free labour' of game patching is what makes it easier for them to reallocate resources from bug/tech support to the next revenue generating project.

Brotherhood of Steel Quest Fix v.1.0 by Smokindan
http://newvegasnexus...le.php?id=36045

Any chance of a version without this particular "fix"? At least until Smokindan has it working right. At the moment I have to disable the compilation fix every time I want to enter Hidden Valley, or I end up with either the wrong elder or both possible options being elder simultaneously.

Noticed this glitch in Primm post office. I believe it's caused by this patch.

Bethesda only did two patch releases for F03. the first patch containing the bugs they found after gold (1.0.0.15) and then the after launch bug fix 1.1 (that broke vats). after that each patch only added DLC achievements.

So far NV got one post gold bug fix and one emergency, delete your save game, bug fix. It would surprise me if Obsidian releases more then one bug-fix patch. And it will probably be next month.

Seconded. It's also present on the first floor of the Nipton town hall (same mesh).

And some of the patches that supposedly only added DLC achievements were way too big to not add/fix anything else. They just svck at detailing patch notes/changes apparently.

go to meshes\Dungeons\NV_Goodsprings\ and delete NVGS_RmCorIn03.nif and NVGS_GS_RmCorIn03.nif

Those meshes come from FOOK

I'll point the authors to this thread so he can take a look.

I figure they just incorporated previous patches.

Updated to v0_045.

In response to a couple of queries on here:

The Brotherhood Quest fix will be removed in the next update. Hopefully it will be reinstated with a fixed version at some point. Also those meshes will be removed.

And the Fook changes are basically vanilla bugfixes only. It doesn't add any content. The bugfixes made by Fook are documented (mostly) in the Fook readme.

Has anyone add a fix for the super mutant's legs normal map? It is currently inverted. Instead of muscle and veins, you get crack and weird surface.

I was wondering if the fix for the Grimy Pre-War Business wear was included with this patch? I noticed it was listed on the FOOK page, but I wasn't sure if that was something that was incorporated here.

v0_05 is up. Grimy Businesswear fix from FOOK is not included. Is it vital? I can include it in the next update I guess.

For anyone wondering about the patch being hidden on the nexus, it's because someone has complained about being credited. I have diligently credited every single mod contributor, so I can only conclude that someone who did not contribute a mod has complained (I think someone who helped a contributor out with their mod).

I hope this problem will be solved soon. Please do not take it close to heart

Since everything is in order according to Zenball, and the Nexus crew is not the mod-police, i say if it takes much longer i would suggest to post a mirror download of the newest patch here in this thread. That way we wont be depending on the Nexus crew.
