IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS READ ME CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT CAN HELP YOU AVOID BREAKING YOUR GAME
======================================================================================================

As this mod is regularly updated and the comments thread functions as a tracker for links to fix suggestions, issues and solutions, if you suffer from any issues you believe are linked to this patch, PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE READ ME AND AT LEAST THE LAST FEW PAGES OF THE COMMENTS THREAD BEFORE POSTING YOUR ISSUE. I will not respond to issues covered in the read me, nor deal with questions I have already answered a few pages previously. Please, make my job easier rather than harder. Any issues that arise with the current patch I will post at the top of the description page, so please check this if you return to view the file.

Caps for emphasis: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DISABLE ANY FIX MODS YOU ARE USING THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THIS PATCH AS ANY MODS THAT ADD NEW RECORDS HAVE HAD THEIR FORM ID CHANGED. THIS COULD LEAD TO FUNKINESS. THEREFORE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU THOROUGHLY REVIEW ALL MODS INCLUDED IN THIS PATCH. IF YOU NEED TO REMOVE A FIX MOD INCLUDED IN A RECENT UPDATE, REMOVE IT AND THE OLD VERSION OF THE COMPILED PATCH IF USED, CREATE A CLEAN SAVE (SEE BELOW) AND THEN LOAD THE UPDATED COMPILED PATCH USING THE CLEAN SAVE.

I hope that's clear :)

Thank you
=========

A massive thank you to everyone for your support so far, in fix making, fix suggesting, helping others out in the comment thread and endorsing (also a special mention to Streetstar5 who has offered his valuable FNVEdit skills and is helping me with the updating of the patch). I would also like to say congratulations to everyone involved on the FOTM votes this mod has been receiving - go team!

What this mod is
================

This is a compilation of fixes available on the Nexus, merged into one esp. As a general rule, this patch is for fixes only - not improvements. A fix will in most cases only go in here if it's broken in the game, not if it's just a bit naff and could do with a brush up. However, if a mod is more of a small tweak that improves immersion in some way and 'should have been in vanilla', we will consider including it.

Changelog: Fixes added or changed in v0_05:
===========================================

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE WHO INSTALLED v0_04:
It appears some of the meshes from FOOK caused issues. Please do the following before installing: Go to meshes\Dungeons\NV_Goodsprings and delete NVGS_RmCorIn03.nif and NVGS_GS_RmCorIn03.nif

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35526
Floating robots shouldn't set off mines.

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35383
Clearly a fix. Now you can't just loot Doc's house with impunity.

Now they won't just stand around.

FollowersFridgeNoRespawn.esp by Vorph (sent via PM - thanks Vorph, you're a star)
A very simple fix that makes the Followers safehouse refrigerators not respawn.

Fixed Weights by Zenball
Bighorner and Brahmin Steak/Wellington now weigh 1.00 instead of 0.8, the same as all other steaks. Potato Crisps now weigh 0.5, Gum Drops and Bubble Gum now weigh 0.2 instead of 1.00

It seems this was causing duplicate Elder issues. Smokindan is aware of the issue and will hopefully release another patch soon.

Load order, conflicts, crashes and reporting issues
===================================================

Load the patch as high in your load order as possible using http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35726 or an alternative to avoid conflicts with other mods that change the same records. Commence caps for emphasis: THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM WITH CONFLICTS SO LONG AS ALL OTHER MODS ARE LOADED BENEATH THIS ONE.

If you really want to make sure that fixes are used, learn to use FNVEdit to merge (where possible) the included fixes into any records overridden by other mods. Everyone who uses mods on any recent Bethesda game should learn how to use the Edit utilities provided by ElminsterEU. It's not hard and you will see exactly where there are conflicts and be able to fix them.

Here's a useful resource for those of you who don't know what it is or how to use it:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8629

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34703

If you suffer from crashes, please be aware that Fallout New Vegas is an extremely buggy game, and not every problem you encounter is related to this patch. Many problems that arise are due to corrupted saves, which happen regardless of having this mod loaded or not. If you wish avoid corrupted saves, please do the following:

1. Turn off Auto-saves and do not use quick save. These saving methods have always been notoriously buggy in recent Bethesda games. Use only a manual save from the menu screen (a hard save).

2. When updating the mod, or if you experience issues, try a clean save. This is where you disable the mod, load the game with the mod disabled, make a new hard save, exit the game, re-enable the mod, and start the game again. This is not always necessary but is often the safest method of updating/testing should you run into issues. Once you have tested this, and still experience issues, state that you have read the entire read me and clean saved in the comments so I know that you have at least tried to solve the problem on your own.

Suggestions and Requests
========================

I'll do requests as far as I'm able - when any other tried and tested community bug fixes surface, please let me know in the comments and I'll endeavour to put them in. If I could just ask that you let a fix 'brew' for a little bit before suggesting it, either by personally testing it or by seeing that it has a good response in the mod thread, that would be helpful and help me avoid adding fixes that don't work/crash the game.

Many thanks!

Please endorse contributors!
============================

If you endorse this file PLEASE also download and endorse the files from the original authors as a sign of thanks (or at least just leave a comment saying thanks). Many thanks to the authors from me. Also, many thanks to ElminsterAU and his FNVEdit program, with which I merged the fixes together.

The future of the mod
=====================

I will not include any Pre-order DLC as everyone has a different pack so merging them would not be useful - links to any pre-order DLC fixes are provided below.

Enjoy!

And keep the suggestions coming!

Awesome mod that realigns shonky object placements like floating trees etc. across the whole game. WuphonsReach has requested the community help with this mod by providing screenshots of bugged objects, including object ID's. If you don't already know how, please learn how to take screenshots and to use the console to get the object ID of any bugged objects. Head over to his page to learn more.

Yet another Compilation patch EXCLUSIVE. This sets Harland the Repconn Ghoul to unagressive so he doesn't go and commit suicide by attacking any remaining Nightkin once his part of the quest is over. He'll defend himself if attacked still.

ALSO: Introducing... fixed meshes!

Yep, I gave in. FOOK v0-2 and 26_fixes both introduced fixed meshes, so I thought I might as well bundle them in. Better to begin now than have to catch up on it all later. Also added:

I love modders and I wish I had the time to do modding myself... unfortunately, starting mods like this so soon unfortunately gives Obsidian no reason to patch anything officially going forward.

I do applaud your effort... that said, without a driving force like Quarn behind this, my personal opinion is that a mod effort like this should be broken into a number of mods by type of change, and each change should be properly documented in a changelist so that anyone reviewing the mod can easily see what's been changed. These might be the individual categories:

- typos / grammar
- landscape fixes
- non-quest object fixes
- NPC, character and quest fixes
- UI fixes

and finally

- anything remotely controversial in terms of whether it's vanilla

With separate mods for different types of changes, if groups of users wanted to get organized they could each tackle one type of fix.

This type of organization seems a lot easier to track rather than tons of fixes all just being thrown into one mod, especially if one has to visit all the individual nexus pages in order to see what was changed in each mod.

Last time I checked that mod it was suggested that you need to get to Davison without killing any nightkin and that you shouldn't look at or touch 'antler' - then you can speak to him without aggroing him and get the optional quest. So not sure if it's a genuine fix or not.

well i've never seen any 'antler' there, and to get there without killing any nightkin feels impossible especially if you don't play a sneak character (even if you do they tend to see you!)

Unless they changed things with the various patches.. You can complete it even with a non stealth character. It may be a limit on how many nightkin you can kill before talking to him. First time I did the area, I killed around 3 nightkin and still had a talk with him.

I understand this in a way, but unfortunately I'm not Quarn and am not prepared to put the effort in that he did, simply because I'd rather spend time playing the game. To me it makes sense to 'open source' the bug-fixing so that more can be done quicker. There is the issue of quality control but even Quarn had problems with this - the Broken Steel unofficial patch caused crashes for example - and if enough people contribute to the mix, more people will be there to spot problems.

I purposely didn't include extensive descriptions and merely provided a link to attempt to enforce people visiting the original author's page, downloading and endorsing the mod. In most cases the title of the mod in itself is enough to give you an idea of what it does and if you want more detail you can always visit the page and view the description and discussion - in some ways a more effective way of knowing exactly what each fix does as there is a separate thread for each one. This also allows mods to be easily taken out if necessary, as you can simply load up both the individual fix mod and the compilation patch in FNVEdit, identify the offending records and remove them.

And if Obsidian see the fact that people are putting up unofficial patches as a reason not to do anymore patches, then we're all doomed. Hopefully they won't do this. There is already a thread here http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1130833-bug-list/ (which I know you know about as I got the link from you!) that is being monitored by developers to for bug reports - surely a sign they will push out more patches before the game is done. And judging from the extensive coverage of bugs the game has got in the media, I would consider it more likely that they will put in extra effort in doing so rather than sack it off because modders are doing it.

Recommend replacing Brianide's Caravan Cards Addition fix with http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36156, (supposedly) a more efficient script and also fixes the boxed ammunition not unpacking issue.

I had a bit of an odd glitch after activating this mod... I had just finished "Still in the Dark" and started "Eyesight to the Blind". So, I want through that, and when I got back...
Spoiler
Hardin was Elder, and McNamarra was now just a knight. However, McNammara still gave me Power Armour training. Meanwhile, I could ask Hardin for Brotherhood membership as well - giving me the quest "Tend to your Business".
Of course, this may be something from vanilla, but I had previously told Hardin about the Chain That Binds, so...
In conclusion, now I can prove my loyalty twice over! However, the NPCs in the base seem to alternate between their Elder-specific greetings now.

Abandoned Bunker Fix . Version 1. By Starke.

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36270

Description: What this does~

In the wastes there is an abandoned BoS bunker. In the retail version of the game this was freely accessible and held one of the collectibles. The 1.1 patch applied an unpickable lock to the bunker's entrance without associating a key with it. This mod unlocks this bunker making the collectible available again.

Seemed like a good addition.

New version up - get it while it's hot.

@roxahris - I haven't personally tested that fix but have noted it on the fix author's page - where there is another person (unless it's you with a different username) who has an Elder related bug.

I will try and keep an eye on this forum a bit more than I have, I've mainly been using the nexus comments to gather suggestions but will check here as well of course. Enjoy the patch everyone, hope it works ok, let me know if there are any problems.

edit: if you downloaded v0_04 as soon as it went up, please download it again. I updated one of the mods with that may have been dodgy.

Sigh, and so once again it falls to the community to fix the hundreds of bugs we will eventually find. Good job thus far. I had an idea of what to expect so I went looking for unofficial patches even though I only bought the game today. Also, if anybody thinks Obsidian/Bethesda will do anything other than the bare minimum of patching required, keep dreaming. History is a pretty good indicator on the subject.
