Community opinion on different body types in a mod

I was wondering what the general consensus was here about custom armors/clothing and the different body types.

For example, a mod that adds a bunch of quests and locations, but doesn't really focus on new armor decides to add one set of robes as a treat of sorts for the mod users, but it only uses the vanilla bodies for it. Would that be the wrong thing to do? Should one instead, make CBBE, UNP and such versions of the robes in addition to the vanilla one? Would people pass over the mod if it doesn't support their body type for one small thing like that? I ask because it's a hassle to change a mesh for all those different body types and make patches for each.

I know I asked a lot of questions here, but any opinions would be appreciated.

There seems to be general consensus that CBBE/UNP is "unrealistic" and UNP is more preferred. Personally I like CBBE.

Right, but... would it be frowned upon to not have patches for different body types?

I would say that it depends on the robes. If they are revealing so much that different body mods would cause them to look bad due to diferent UV mapping, I guess it might be a problem to some people. If it is only the general shape, I do not think it would bother too much people. Besides, if the demand is high, I guess there are modders who specialize in convering models for their favorite body type. I do not think that such thing would be required of you as a mod author. If the mod in question adds new quest I would not turn it down only because one clothing item fits more a different body type. But again, this is just me.

It'd probably be welcome to those users, but as a rule of thumb I'd say focus on the vanilla body first. Other users often make body-mod-compatible versions of modded apparel, in my experience.
