Hey folks i dreamed about some people from the community doing a 2.0 Patch
But seriously now, arent there some people out there that could give this a try ? I know this is hard work, but since they gave us the engine for free it should be possible if we get a little team together. Maybe we could collect some money for them, so they dont work for free ! ?

Other thg is, those hack producers, could do somethg usefull and try to make us a anticheat tool. They could still sell the BF3 or MW3 cheats in future, but help us to keep Crysis 2 alive. Boyscout like, a good action.....

Last thg i dreamed of is more servers with custom maps, make them more popular. And maybe some could do a Skyline version without glass. Once u destroyed all the glass in Skyline the lagg disappears like magic xD

Even with the released SDK and Engine it's pretty much impossible to develop a 2.0 Patch without the actual soure code. And even if we were able to make this patch, the biggest problem would be that the multiplayer would not work anymore.

As long as Crytek does not want the community to work on such a patch, it would be a waste of time.

JoWood released the source code of Gothic 3 back in 2007 to allow the community to work on a patch and that was definitely a success. Let's just hope Crytek does the same!

Maybe if we get together some talented coders and proove to Crytek that we're up to the challange they will consider it!

As mentioned above, it'll be very difficult to develop a community patch to fix issues such as lag, using just the tools available.

Regarding anti-cheat, there are really two options, both require Crytek UK's help: a) Release a patch that allows demo recording with a /record function in console or b) sign the game up with Punkbuster.

Since b) is unlikely, we should press on all channels for Crytek to release a patch with demo recording. This simple addition would allow us to exchange demo files easily and swiftly (MKV'd fraps is still too big and cumbersome). Watching back a demo recording would expose most cheats and opens the door to ladder play, clan matches, etc.

If we push for too much, it's simply unrealistic and we won't get it (Crytek can't release source code on their top end engine, after all). However, if we focus on a small, achievable goal like a /record function, we can ensure a long life for the game.

A patch with auto download mod/map support has my vote for remotely possible. It's a good route to help support the SDK, which is a more important product.

Who's asking for the source code of their engine? I don't care about the engine, I just want the Crysis 2 source code. Also, the code should only be available for the people who want to work on a community patch and NOT for everyone.

I don't think Crytek wants to improve Crysis 2, so even if their complete fanbase requests a patch, they simply don't care. They don't want to spend their money on a game that's already dying, so the only chance I see lies within the community.
