  • Temple of the One (Imperial City)

  • The Great Chapel of Arkay (Cheydinhal)

  • Chapel of Dibella (Anvil)

  • The Great Chapel of Julianos (Skingrad)

  • Great Chapel of Mara (Bravil)

  • Chapel of Stendarr (Chorrol)

May the Spirits Guide Me!

I am but a humble low ranking Psijic, and Counselor of a great Lord, or at least, he once was.

Lately, my lord refuses to take my counsel, and has begone resorting to acts of greed and cruelty! If I do not stay by his side down this path, he will end my life! My situation is dire and I seek guidance, for I have heard of a book in possession of the Chorrol Fighters guild, called "The Old Ways" which holds the answer to my situation.

Please, someone find this book and learn of my options, three :turtle: for thy trouble!

Summary:

Travel to the Chorrol Fighters Guild, find "The Old Ways" and learn of what can be done in cases of serving a villainous Lord.

Restrictions:

  • Don't kill anyone or do anything illegal.

  • You must provide an in-game picture of the page with the answer. Simply referring to the UESP is not enough.

The Imperial Watch is fed up of the thieves guild stealing from shops. They have a few leads on peopel involved, but don't want to make any arrests without a good amount of proof they are associated with the Guild. This is where you come in. The Watch has leads on these 3, your job is to find evidence, with no bloodshed.

The people you will be looking out for are detailed in these scrolls.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Isleif_the_Open_Handed
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Carwen
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:J%27baana

The first two shouldn't be too hard to pickpocket, but J'Baana will be tougher. The Guards have no idea you are wrangling evidence, so if you are detected, they will try to arrest you. You have been warned. Upon completing this task, return to me, and I will pay you 1200 gold.

Summary:
Get evidence(Pickpocket from them, or steal it from their houses) for the 3 previously listed members of the thieves guild.
Return to the questgiver(Decide who gives you this quest)

Restrictions:
Bloodshed. It will count as murder of an innocent, forfeiting your contract.

Reward:
1200 gold.

Damn it! My best thief is the leader of the thieves guild, but I think I have a Wood Ranger somewhere which I can take this one with.

I accept you quest!

A quick trip to the Chorrol Fighter's Guild was all it took for me to complete this quest. I searched the place for the book named 'The Old Ways' and eventually found it resting on a shelf. I opened the book and read it, but have been presented with disturbing news.

http://filesmelt.com/dl/frm00001.jpg

There is no hope for you, poor Psijic; you may submit to your dark master's ways, you may leave him, but forever be scorned by your peers or you may take your own life as this is the only honourable thing to do.

I am deeply sorry for you and if there is anything more you think that I can do for you then I would be more than happy to oblige.

I return victorious. It took a while, but I managed to break the siege of Kvatch and Martin is safe in Cloud Ruler Temple. I have no kills of any kind in my journal. My one regret was that I was unable to pickpocket the Sigil Keep key from the Dremora in the Oblivion Gate, so I had to lure him into the Corpse Masher to get it, but I guess that's pretty cool too. I think I'm actually going try the rest of the MQ like this too.

Edit: And now I'm stuck. Any ideas how to do the quest with Baurus in the sewer without illing the Mythic Dawn guys? Maybe a back way I can go to pickpocket the book or something?

It will either involve buffing up baurus so that he can kill them all, or go invisible and wait till they stop pursuing you and than pickpocket the item from the main dude.

EDIT: You can probably also frenzy them, or use dominate humanoid on one of them, don't know if this will count as your kill.

You have to be really careful with Command spells if you're going for a perfect "no-kill" record. Your Commanded ally must always lose, because if he wins, it counts as your kill on your stats. Same with summoned creatures and followers; their kills are applied to your stats.

It doesn't count as your kill if you run to a guard for help, or if bystanders jump in to help you. My "passive" mage character draws enemies to any neutral helper, and then casts paralyze on them repeatedly to help the helper. She has been "rescued" a couple of times by unarmed citizens who have happened to be walking along the road. This character has gotten about as far as Zorg has on the main quest, has completed all the Mages Guild recommendations, and is working on the "Information at a Price" Mages Guild quest. Still at zero kills.

I'm sure that Zorg will agree that this is a very challenging approach to the game. It helps to have good stealth and illusion skills, and you do a lot of running. :)

Okay, buffing will probably work better, but it will be challenging nonetheless.

Razor Tail is no friend of the thieves guild, and happily accepts this contract. Isleif the Open Handed, bah! The bloodsack was not Open Handed to Razor Tail, proclaiming Razor Tail was not needy enough, Razor Tail always needy! Anyways, the Gob' brain did not contain any evidence of association with the thieves guild on his person, but http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5209/8febob008.jpg what Razor Tail found in "Open Handed"s nest, a copy of the book Followers of the Gray Fox.

Carwen, Stupid svck up to the guild of thieves, no match for Razor Tails superior pickpocket skills, still no evidence on Carwen Catlicker, but a nice little key to Methredhel's house, in which smart Razor Tail found http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/686/8febob009.jpg copy of the Followers of the Gray Fox.

J'Baana...Razor Tail is sorry to say he was unable to find any evidence linking J'Baana to the thieves guild, but it was not Razor Tails fault! Razor Tail searched every inch of the dumb kittens litterbox, but found nothing but cat hair. When Razor Tail tried to pickpocket, stupid cat call the guards even though he is a jailed cat! Razor Tail managed to see a lot of lockpicks, but that was all before buffoon of a guard started screaming at Razor Tail, and sent him to the Dungeon...

Does Razor Tail still get nice prize?

Quest: A Countesses' Proposal

Briefing:
Greetings adventurer. I bring you a message of great importance and unparalleled opportunity. The Countess of Leyawin is tried of those damned dirty lizards and cat-men polluting her fair city. She has heard tales of your skill and valour and now she wants you to go out and kill every last one of the stinking beasts!! However, Im sure you understand that my mistress cannot be implicated in this crime, so you will have to operate alone and will receive no aid if you are apprehended. Do this for her and you will be richly rewarded with gold and a position among the Countesses' personal Guard.

Objective: Murder every last Khajitt and Argonian in Leyawin.
Do NOT get caught by the guard.

Reward: Once you have completed the deed, report to the secret torture chamber under the cover of darkness. There you shall be granted your well deserved reward.

*Complete quest and then open spoiler for the quest's conclusion*

Spoiler
The moment you enter the torture chamber, the door slams shut behind you. A cadre of the Countesses' most trusted elite guards confront you, their swords drawn and arrows nocked. Its an ambush!! Enraged by her betrayal you reach for your weapon, but its too late!! A flurry of silver arrows pierce your chest, knocking you to the floor. You lie dying in a puddle of your own blood. As your vision starts to fade you stare up into the diabolical Countesses' maniacal grin. "Its too risky to have you running loose but I thank you for cleaning up my city you foolish cur!!" she cackles gleefully as she tosses a bag of coin upon your arrow riddled chest. "I am a Lady of my word so there is your reward". She begins walking away from your prone form and the guards rush in to finish their gruesome task. The dead silence of the dungeon is punctuated only with the wet sounds of blades on flesh as you are hacked into bits of meat. By the time they're finished there is very little of you left recognizable as a person, the majority of your being is splattered about upon the Guards' weapons and armor.
