community stats

my apologizes if this has already been covered in another thread but does anyone know if they will be posting real time player stats / profiles on brinkthegame.com once the game is released?

it would really be a shame if they didn't / don't incorporate this feature.

This is the website/forums for the publisher, Bethesda. Splash Damage was the ones who created this game, and if there was going to be an official site for tracking stats, it would be with them (still unlikely, as SD is a rather small company). Still, it's not unheard of that a third-party group will track stats for Brink.

Im so glad there won't be kdr etc... As someone who is super competitve, stats just make me play super seriously, which again damages my enjoyment of the game.

I am looking forward to the lack of pointless numbers.

Just hope they don't give in to all the silly muppets asking for leaderbords etc :P

At the end of a game they will show the total XP gained, afaik.
Like at the end of a Section 8: Prejudice match.

Aware of that, but showing the amount of xp gained is far from showing your kills and deaths :P

Actually showing XP might get people to play better and even more as a team.

As a I said before in another thread: The leaderboard for every match shows XP, Kills, Deaths and other information.

News to me, wish I'd be on the forums more to read that before posting, but the forums is not the best place at this time imo.

no doubt ... like i said http://www.brinkthegame.com is where they would host that option. understandable if they don't but it's really not all that hard to do. let's hope that someone takes on this task ... it's really helpful to be able to see how accurate you are with specific weapons, points earned per minute etc as you progress. K/D ratio is nice but PPM is actually a better gauge of skill. other then being able to compare profiles with friends and providing a player with some indepth insight as to their own strengths & weaknesses i could care less about leader boards. being listed as a top player just means you have no life. when i was a kid we use to call NES "NO-FRIEND-O"

well doc ... if there are no stats in BRINK then how does the engine calculate individual progress as you level up, score a match or weigh item / class specific variables ... etc? no offense and i am only calling you out because you seem to have a pattern of making "concrete" statements concerning specifics for a game that none of us have played based on your own preferences. it's misleading.

I ment K/Dr, wins, loses, etc. For many people on the forums have said, along with the developers, it encourages people to get as many kills and wins, and not using teamwork.

Yes people will try and do this even without stats but without them there will be less people doong that.

I myself do not see much use of these stats, nor do i care for them or even look at them.

I still think people will do that it's like engraved into their blood from previous FPS games and for the naturally competitive player - I personally can't really stand people who are obsessed with K/D ratio it's irritating because some of them are just way to serious and it destroys the fun.

i dont like it when people make the assumption that if you like leaderboards your a stat [censored] , im a 24 year old man who loves to play games but i love leaderboards , but they in no way or form alter my game , i play for fun not a pretty number , but that number is also fun to look at for me :celebration:

Lol dude Revo just said a few posts up that the leaderboards for each match shows kills and deaths and it has been stated many times by many people who played the demo at pax that both kills and deaths were on the leaderboards for that demo as well so stop making things up but your not the only one that keeps saying this game has no stats when its been stated over and over again that it does.

I don't mind stats. i'm happy the k/d stat is gone, would of been cool if there was say an XP stat, or amount of revives you've got as a medic ect.

And I'm sure many of them can't stand people that don't really care about what's going on in the game and are just running around "having fun" as it destroys the fun for them. There are extremes at both ends, and stats are meant to keep both focused.

It all comes back to only caring about what's fun for the individual.

There will be stats in BRINK, the developers said they will not do kills and deaths though, as they feel it would cause players to be KDR [censored]s, rather then play the game the way it's supposed to be played. Kudos to a developer that has a high level understanding of FPS multiplayer, and it's current state and players.

I'm a fan of the xp/minute or xp/ round stat which would be a fairly even way to tell who is contributing to their squad regardless of class. It would be nice forclan purposes as far as choosing who to pick for certain roles. Not essential but would be nice.

Nobody's really done it yet, but I want a skill stat, that basically grades you on how you play, and strongly incorporates the competition into it.

Grade S, A, B, C, N
(N is for Nub, ;D)
A grade for each class would be awesome, possibly further deviation per map.

I'm pro-stats. What can I say I just like to look at them and compare them to my friends. If having stats makes you camp or play different, that's your own problem. Now I understand nobody wants to play with campers just trying to raise their KDR, but there are plenty of stat options other than KDR. I know a lot of people on here trash CoD and say it's full of campers, but they had a great idea in Black Ops when they implemented score per minute which was basically the main stat over KDR. I would love something like that in this game.

You realize Bad Company 2 has score per minute, and was released over half a year prior right?
