I am looking into making a possible companion mod and need some raw data to decide if this mod would be too OP for the game before I put work into it. Based on the info I can get on the wiki I can calculate their base skills off of their special and their tagged skills. I can also easily calculate their level based on the PC level and even how many skill points per level they would receive. Action points (are these even used for companions?), Carry Weight, Critical Chance, Hit points, Melee Bonus and unarmed bonus given the information available in various wiki's. However, some game mechanics concerning companions elude me.
One such mechanic is how exactly do companion skills level? This is not to be confused with character level which is the PC level x 0.75. What I am seeking is how skill points are distributed, if the skill points per level are calculated the same as the PC and if the companion even levels when not with the PC.
Also, the wiki's indicate that the highest level the companions can reach is 22. Does this restriction persist even when DLC's are installed that raise the PC's level cap?
If anyone can answer these questions I would be greatful
