Companion affinity

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 11:59 am

I have been dragging piper along for quite some time now trying to get her perk...

I figured out she likes when I pick locks and choose mean, but still nice dialogue options...and she keeps yappin about helping the people of the commonwealth...except that mission where you have to get a shiskebob from some forge guys...well I saved that jake guy from killing the settler, and saved the settler, yet I didn't get a message saying she liked that...she should've slept with me on the spot for that, (you'd think?)

So far I've had 2 flirt options with her and passed both...what's it take? Are other companions this hard?

Eventually you will see a red romance option, you need to pass that. Go off and save some puppies or something, all the minuteman missions will help.

It can take a while. In my experience some of the companions are easier to romance than others. I've romanced Piper, Cait, and Curie, and reached maximum affinity with Codsworth, Preston, Nick, and MacCready. I'm currently working on reaching maximum affinity with Paladin Danse, Deacon, and Hancock. Some seem to go more quickly than others. It also seems at least somewhat random. Some people have told me that it took forever to reach maximum affinity with MacCready, but it took me almost no time.

It also varies with your charisma. Piper took a lot longer than most for me because she was my first non-Dogmeat companion. I have SPECIAL totally maxed out now, but when I first started trying to romance Piper, it was at 5 or so. I think the Lady Killer perk will also make the romance option available more quickly, at least with the female companions.

Ok thanks...at least I know I haven't screwed anything up yet...

Dang my CHA is still at 3 and I'm lvl 47 running out of dialogues (through quests anyway) and locks to pick...

However I have noticed piper likes when I give settlers the O option in dialogue(ps4) rightmost option...when I get sent on raider clear out missions...guess I'll do a few more of them...she's gotta be close to giving it up..

You should work on applying a few more points to charisma. It's a pretty important perk. That's what helps you get through speech checks, and higher charisma means better buying/selling prices at vendors.

For Piper I think if you take her with you on that Radio Deejay quest in Diamond City (and complete it in the nicest way possible) you'll earn a lot of affinity with her.

I've romanced Cait, Piper and Curie and there are no more female companions in Fallout 4, right?

If your charisma is low when Piper asks if you have a second to talk just walk away from her then put on your best charisma gear, drink some booze, then quicksave and initiate the dialog yourself. She has no side quests so if she's asking to talk you will likely be getting a flirt or romance option in the dialog. If you fail it you can reload and try again.
