[WIPz]: Companion Drizzt Do'Urden for Oblivion : IV

I'm going to begin the process of fleshing out a companion mod of Drizzt Ddo'Urden (if your unfamiliar, google is your friend).

I'd like to bring a co-writer on board this time. The main quest is the retaking of Ched Nassad in the Underdark (mod).

I have the voice actor lined up already and he is AMAZING.

Ideas welcome. I have not started writting the story/script for this yet but wanted to throw it out there for discussion.

Oh boy.. I love me some Drizzt..

I'm not (very) famililar with the Underdark.. is it based on Forgotten Realms?

I'll be a fan of this one for sure.

Forgotten Realms indeed.

RA Salvatore has quite a few books out about him. I have my work cut out. For Stoker Wolff fans, Stoker will be done next, before Drizzt. This, right now, is to hash out ideas and requests.

This will be required, as it in Viconia Chapter/Version 2.0 and will be in Stoker Wolff Chapter/Version 2.0.

A friend of Old Book's. I forget his handle off the top of my head. I know his first name but I ain't gonna post it. :bigsmile:

Oh, time line. This will take place AFTER Vioonia's quest, which has serious implications on Drow society. Stoker's will be a prequel.

Stoker will have a wider option as far as romance goes. Friend or lover. Drizzt will be the same way. Every stage will be conditionalized so that most male players can play him as well (Drizzt will be as well of course). Both will know if you are male or female. Stoker's quest will fill in some intended blanks in Viconia's story line.

Must say one thing I love about your mods is that both male and females can romance any of them, I have straight characters then I have the not so straight... and I really appreciate that.
Gosh I better get my characters ready for all these quests down there XD

JDFan - are you the one who made the Twinkle and Icingdeath for Dimitri Mazieres' Ranger Armor and Light Daedric Armor mod? They seem to be quite similar.

And I THINK I can call myself a Drizzt fan - having the Dark Elf Trilogy autographed by the author himself

Duuude! You should totally be able to find his journal - an epic part of the books indeed.

Yeah I was gonna say, probably the Trilogy would give the best insight into his overall character. They remain my favorite books of all time..

I live in his state, and he was lecturing at my high school - I think one of my teachers invited him. So, I stayed a couple minutes after, and got all three books signed - which were all I had at the time. The only ones I haven't read are the latest ones unfortunately >.<

Okay, so I've already established that he will detect if the player is male or female and the lines will be based on that and also a romance trigger that will also determine lines.

I usually don't use disposition in my mods but I'm open to it. I prefer to handle it through dialog. What's the consensus on that?

I have Bob Salvatore's personal email address, if you want to ask him about permissions or something. My dad went to college with him, and I met up with him two years ago. He lives about ten minutes from me now.

I don't think he'd punch you, Sulteric.

He's a cool guy. And he likes to be called Bob.

The thing is, Drizzt is owned by Wizards of the Coast, and they can use him without Bob's permission. He didn't even know Drizzt was in Baldur's Gate until he met him in the game. Then he tried to kill his own character, and got his party slaughtered.

Nope that was someone else - though they are similar ( http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc189/JDFanning_bucket/twinkle-1.jpg ) - we probably used the same reference Pic when modeling them ! but looking at the models they are quite a bit different and his has a better texture !

Maybe I'm not following you on the disposition thing.. but if you prefer the NPC to "like the player more" based on dialog choices, you could always just mod the disposition through that dialog choice.

Ooooh, I'll be using him for sure! Drizzt is so much fun in the books and also quite mad at times! *12 frost giants appear* Drizzt: 'There's only 12 of them! Let's have some fun!' I also like that you're continuing your policy of either gender player can romance him. As I play only male characters with male companions, this is a huge plus. You get a grateful thanks from me for that!

I might be able to come up with some armour and stuff for him...

As we discussed through PM Sulteric, I will help you out. Indeed I had the idea of a Drizzt Driven story for the Underdark, but this is a better idea

@JDFan - I still have those blades, was planning to use them, I also shown them to Sulteric before
