Companion's health?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:17 am

Playing on PC...how do I tell companions's health? Sometimes I get a health bar for them, sometimes not?? And if you give them stimpaks, will the companion use them as needed? Thanks for any help.

How do you get Companions?

Guess it depends on your character--good or bad or inbetween...found one in Megaton but he wouldn't go with me, found another in a scrapyard, another two pretty far along on Main Quest. When you talk with them...you have the chance to ask them to go with you. Really fun to have someone tagging along. But I worry about keeping them healthy, too.

You can VATS them, without taking the shot, to see how much health they have. Give them buffout. All your companions heal to full strength after combat. So if someone is near death, pick a fight with a radroach, and they will be back to full health.

They will use them if they are able to get to cover during battle. It doesn't happen often and you will most likely never see them use one, but if you give them a few stimpaks in their inventory, they will slowly disappear.

I just started playing this game a few weeks ago...have about 55 hours in and have just found out that dad is at the Project Purity lab for the main quest....I have yet to run into a companion and didn't even know you could have companions since I just got the internet back today after being without any access for a month. No internet access is why I gave this game a shot and I'm glad I did.

I was always curious as to why Charon would walk around with full health(or pretty close to it) after a major battle against both Super Mutants and Talon Company Mercs! Thanks for the explanation.

I know that the companions will use Stimpacks, as I always keep Charon's at 20 and have had to replenish it from time to time.

Also keep everyone well supplied with Buffout, as they use this drug like addicts. Jericho is the only one who uses Jet on a regular basis for me, Charon and Clover use Jet sparingly.

Well, you're on PC, so you could just install the TRASCH mod. Sharing and Caring Companions is another helpful mod.

Stimpacks/buffout/jet, should keep your folks running smoothly...In reference to health, they tend to use stimpacks once they have been severely wounded.

I never thought of that. I take it they don't get addicted or anything else negatively connotated with Med use?

I play the banjo while they are dancing. Campfire fun in the wasteland!
