My companion, dogmeat, went randomly missing and I don't know where to find him. I have checked all the bases and even gone to where he might have been hurt but he's not anywhere. Any ideas on what to do?

I am on the PS4 but I have the same issue. Sent him back to sanctuary when I picked up Piper as a companion and have not seen him since.

I have checked all three doghouses, slept 24 hours and tried them again, fast and slow traveled in and out of Sanctuary Hills, installed a bell and rang it. I have also checked all my bases and he is nowhere.

I may try tearing down the doghouses to see if I can get him to roam around.

This one is game breaking because he is needed for the main quest you pick up from Valentine
