[RELZ] Companion Share & Recruit v3

At least it kind of makes sense--I mean, would you be able to command a group of people in deep murky water where all you hear is the worst representation of someone's voice? I know I wouldn't.

Congratulations on reaching 150k downloads! You deserve every one of 'em! :D

quick question to download, do I start with the old version and upgrade to new? cause the newest file looks mighty small to be a full mod like this

Nope, just download the new one. The mod itself is very small as it's just scripts- the old version was larger as it had all the silent dialogue files for talking to your companions, but Elys' Silent Voice has made that unneccessary.

*Sigh*. Sorry to bother again, but I found one minor issue. My companion repairs their armor to 125% but only mine (or at least only my weapon) to 100%. I guess that's what I get for bossing around my companion so much :P.

Nevermind. I found cause of the problem. The mod works fine. Turns out if I use console command cheat "setav armorer 255" on my npc, they only repair to 100. So I have to leave my npc's armorer skill at 100 and they repair to 125%.

My custom follower refuses to attack. He has 5 aggression, is set to attack foes on sight, is in the player faction, but when ANY enemy comes along it ignores him entirely and he ignores it too.
EDIT: Actually enemies do attack him, he just ignores them as they beat him up.

What's his personality? If it's too high then he considers everyone a friend, and he's set to ignore friendly attacks.

I love this mod!! But I relized that it is keeping me from joining the Fighter's Guild. None of the guild members use their original speaches like Vilana Dalton doesn't talk anymore she just tells me she's on a contract and the speech options are just the Companion options.

I was wondering again if the old generals would be seeing combat, Durin was my number one companion.

Dismiss companion, join the fighter's guild and then recruit them again until you need their quest dialog again. Those fighter's guild types love to make you break your contract so you'll have to pay them again!

I like the idea of this Mod, but like some have said, it seems too much of an exploit. It would be great to convince someone to follow you, depending on status and whether they actually want to (not just like you), but the fact you can then take most their stuff, etc just basically blows immersion. maybe add in some way to get Followers to demand back an item that was borrowed depending on its importance? Even your best friends aren`t going to let you rob them of all they have cos you asked nicely and if you do get something they really like they`ll quickly want it back.

But I guess making them much more `Human` would take too much work? Might take a lot of scripting. But nice idea anyway, will keep a watch.

If you want to make this mod seem like less of an 'exploit', then just get Persuasions Overhaul. It will make it much, much more difficult to get allies in the beginning of the game since practically everyone will hate you if you aren't from their race. I believe there's already an option where an NPC demands their stuff back if you take too much, though there's a little glitch pertaining to this: whether you give them the stuff back or not, they get to keep it and you automatically get a bounty on your head.

I mean, no offense, but you're expected to have a little self-control when it comes to playing your game. You should know when you're cheating and when you aren't. Based on your roleplaying preferences and standards of fair play, you alone should be able to decide the type of party you get and how many members to join. I mean, this mod was designed with the ability to recruit practically anyone you want, as some players became really attached to some NPC's and wanted to have them join in on their fun. You alone must decide what, and who you'll choose to bring along. It's like fast-traveling: people complain about it, but yet they don't realize it's completely optional. This mod (to a greater extent, since you don't even have to use it if you're having a mental battle such as this) works in the same way.

You have a point. I`m a `realism`, immersion player and there are a lot of things I won`t do just because it blows the game for me. Sorry if I was too harsh. Your work is appreciated.

I will try this Mod if only for the fact that it might let me make my own companion that I don`t think anyone else can make. D\L now. Thanks.

I've been using using this mod a couple weeks and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I basically want a balanced party, but don't want to take the challenge out of OOO. I just started using the support mode feature and noticed how overpowered the healing is. The buff has a long duration too. The problem is the healing though. I recruited a lvl 4 nightblade who healed me 80+ hp in one casting. if his spells are apprentice level; shouldn't he have major heal which is like 25 hp per casting. He heals himself more than 25hp. I don't know how high it goes cause he only gots 50max hp himself. I guess I'll deactivate support and not use npc heals, but its kind of disappointing since thats a big chunk of the team gameplay strategy.

Any hints on how to restore the attack/sneak attack on order functionality? That was really bugging me, to the point that i might just declare a jihad on the issue and figure out how to fix it (but then id have to learn all sorts of stuff for an aging game, and it would be much better if someone knowledgeable could do it instead).

How do you create your own companion NPC? There did not appear to be any instructions.

All NPCs with the rumors topic are recruitable by this mod. So just add the rumors topic to your custom NPC and you're set.

I asked TalkieToaster about that too and it turns out he implemented the sneak attack before the final Oblivion patch by Bethesda. Appearantly with the new patch, some scripting methods were tweaked/ altered (or something like that). Talkie never updated this mod to work properly with the final patch. I asked if he could fix the sneak attack and all he did was completely remove it; he said it was just "dead wood". Appearantly he's moved on to modding for FO3/ not modding for Oblivion any longer.

How do you create your own companion NPC? There did not appear to be any instructions.

That's about the ONLY thing I like about CM partners; it comes with instructions on how to make your own npc. Not all of it might be relevant in simply making any npc, but if your savvy enough, you can use it to figure out how to make your own. Otherwise CSR is better, IMO.

@TalkieToaster

There's one bug left that's really been getting on my nerves. Everytime I tell my npc to "wait here>make yourself at home" their responsibility gets bumped up 50 points. No problem if it would go back down once you tell your companion to follow you again, but it doesn't. So my companion starts getting their responsiblity up to like 175 because responsibility doesn't get reset back to where it was once you tell a party member to follow you again AFTER telling them to "make themselves at home". And it seems that when my companion's responsiblity is so high, they won't fight back anymore. All they do is stand there and say stuff like "Gasp, what's going on" "Can't we settle this peacefully", etc repeatedly until I finish the battle myself. My companion's personality is at 30, so I know that's not the problem.

I'd appreciate if you'd be willing to fix this bug (responsiblity being reset to where it was after telling companion to "follow me")

hi i'm having a problem of low aggression value in the npc's . earlier i was using vilena donton only and it was going fine . then i added the mod setessential which makes npc's essential etc ,then i added alewen (master archer trainer) , set her to essential , and then i added azzan . but both of them now have 5 aggression and dont attack enemies unless they're standing right next to them . any suggestions how do i fix this ??

Don't think I eer posted in this thread though being a long time user of this mod ,

I got one critic remark that would make this mod go from 9.9 to 10.0 , when using the faction recruitment I was wondering if the intial greeting could be removed ? It Very often overides diag. that is suspose to be said , its no biggie since you can just restart convo to get the regular response ...but it would make it perfect ....

Anywhoo love this mod , never play without it !

So Toaster,

I am using version v3.26. I've noticed that my game sometimes freezes when my one of my companions loot. This goes for looting from being in support mode as well as looting from a direct command. My companion is Mazoga the Orc. I've crashed when looting goblins, skeletal archers and most recently bandits. I wish I had better information for you.

Anyway, I've been looking through one of the looting scripts, aaaGenericLootActivatorScript, and I noticed that it has a local variable, limit, which stores the number of items in a container. That variable doesn't seem to be getting updated when an item is looted. It seems like if that would cause some sort of out of bounds error, it would happen every time an item was looted instead of randomly, so that's probably not the problem, right?

Anyway, thanks for the great mod. Sorry if I don't know what I'm talking about.

First off just let me say, awesome awesome mod. The functionality, integration and interface, all top notch!

but...there's always a but, I have a bug report.

Tonight...I discovered that one of my companions is cursed with magically replicating cheese wedges!

If it take them away, the same number re-appear when I share with him again.
eg if they have 544, and I take them all then I talk with them again they have 544 more.

If I don't take them away from him the amount doubles each time I share with him.
e.g if he has 544 and I leave them, then share again now he has 1088.

If I take away 543 of them when we talk again he'll have 545.

It's just cheese wedges, nothing else.

This may sound like a trifling matter but it's not.
It really doesn't take that long until they are totally overencumbered. Carrying 17k pieces of cheese @ 0.2 a pop will weigh anyone down.

Now I haven't gone to the extent of disabling other mods one by one yet...
But since your mod is the only one providing companion share it seems like the one most likely to be responsible.

Here's my list in case it helps, It's ordered by BOSS, and has a fresh Bashed Patch.
