Companion Status and MWSE

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 8:17 am

Anyone know how to get the Companion Status mod to work with MWSE. The author of Companion Status claims it will
only work with the bundled MWSE that come with MGE and not an external MWSE. Whats up with that? I suppose the
author means a stand alone version. I figured MWSE is MWSE no mater if its by itself or bundled into another mod.
Well, when I try to activate the book, I get a script error and the mod wont work. Any thoughts on fixing this?
Thank you kindly folks.

Oh, BTW. Do you have to launch MWSE from the their font? I always launch from Wrye Mash, so a person
can never really tell if MWSE is active if you don't launch from it. Does the MWSE showcase .ESP need to
be installed and ticked?

The status bar is an MGE shader, Oldplayer, that's why it requires MGE to run. It uses MWSE code, but MWSE does not use shaders. MWSE gathers the required information and the MGE shader display it on your screen.

To run MWSE outside of MGE, you must load it from their loader; loading it from Wrye Mash won't do anything. As for the showcase mod, it's just that: a showcase to show off the functions of MWSE and doesn't need to be selected.

Jac is correct. The MWSE built inside MGE is an upgraded version. It contains functions that I used that do not exist in any standalone version of MWSE. If you are worried about performance, it is entirely possible to install MGE and not use any features, and its MWSE will run in the background as you play.

On a technical note, the mod actually uses no shaders, but that may change in the future.

OK, thanks guys. I'll have to do without until I decide to play with MGE again. I've played it for awhile, but I just did a fresh install with some fresh mods. My priorities are quest mods right now. I kinda miss the old foggy mystery days of MW anyway. :)

You can still use Companion Status if you install MGE and disable distant land and/or any other function except for integrated MWSE.
