[RELZ] Companion Vilja ver 2

Post » Fri Sep 17, 2010 1:38 pm

@Emma,

You did it :goodjob: Just in Time for my new Game.

I am (was) not a great companion fan but this girl really attracts me, and since I am very curious about the interaction with other companions I am going to install Sulteric’s merged Viconia de Vier as well.

I'm glad that Vilja has 'converted' you to like companion mods :).
Be aware that I haven't tested how Vilja works with the merged Viconia - it requires a masterfile that I'm not using (Underdark). However, I set up placeholders for Sulteric to add in conversations to her, and I assume he did so. If not, there will still be some interaction - I added in a 'Hmm' and a 'Yes' for Viconia in the Vilja mod so that she can at least give Viljla these replies. And Vilja will of course comment to you regarding the beautiful darkskinned woman you have in tow. :)

I am a big fan of Middark’s Heart of the Dead and that MOD will also add a companion if you want one or not. Unfortunately that MOD gives you the choice of 2, Kat the Mage, or if you reject both it will force Wintermoon upon your character.

Well, I have to see how it turns out playing the game with 3 companions, a totally new experience for me. As stated before people like you keep this old game alive.

Thank you and CDCooley so very much :foodndrink:

Crash

I have yet to play Heart of the Dead, but reading that both you and CDCooley enjoy it, and that it includes some interesting companions, makes me eager to do so. Maybe I can add in some unique interaction with these companions in the next version of Vilja.

I spent a mere 40 mins with Vilja after installing her today and I must say she is very charming she's definently a keeper for me, I have a question though, I desired to change her hairstyle to loose..but when I access her face the CS crashed....it does this repeatedly and I've deduced that this is so because the mod is packaged in BSA (all my mods are I was delighted to see yours was as well), I extracted the contents and placed them in folder style like in the old days so that I could properly edit your ESP but the same result occurs even with the BSA moved from the data files. it is but a simply hair edit, must it be so difficile? what am I to do? or am I unable to edit original content in a mod when it is in BSA formate?

I'm glad to hear that you like her :)

If you extract the files from the bsa, I cannot see what would cause such a problem. Maybe the file system you created for the meshes and textures of her face weren't right?

You know what... at Nexus, the old version is still available, and there I have not used a bsa. Head over and download it, and the file structure will be exactly as it should.

(On a side-note... most of the screenies of Vilja with other haircuts at Nexus are showing her wearing wigs from the Apachii Goddess Store.)

Go grab Apachii store or any other whig-mod, and you can give her one hairstyle for every day in the week and one hair-color for every day in the month ;D

I've only played through HOD once and chose Dublin. I'm probably going to go for Wintermoon next, but I loved listening to him almost as much as I like to listen to Vilja's pvssyr.

I definitely need to try this mod out!

I've also just started a new game. It's been months since I simply played the game without looking for ways to fix problems or add features. I've got Arren and Vilja with me so far and will be heading for Bruma fairly soon.

Poor you... Well, I'm sure that it will take a veeeery long time before you even start thinking of ways to improve her again...

Emma, you FINALLY release it and thank you so much for Vilja. :celebration: :celebration: :celebration:
I will download Vilja ASAP. :user:

Hope you will enjoy the new version :)

Hmm, now I am getting a CTD when Vilja summons her horse. I tried moving and sleeping. Is it something you came across while testing, something I missed perhaps? I have a vague recollection that horse riding companions is quite tricky.

For now I'll walk until I found a solution :)

Cheers!

Are you using any of Duke Patrick's mods? I know one of them (i.e. Actors can miss now) causes this problem with companions and companion horses, at least the older versions of it.

I know Al3rn1ty had this problem but managed to sort it out. I see if I can dig up what he wrote.

Yep, found it: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1068423-relz-companion-vilja-release-thread-2/page__view__findpost__p__15819748

Hi Emma, got a small odd behaviour problem going on http://grotto.moddersrealm.com/index.php?topic=12050.msg238293#new

The path grids near the waterfront seem to be messed up. I've seen that behavior with every companion I've ever taken there. It's very annoying that there are only a few places on the waterfront where they can enter and leave the water considering it's all nice shallow beach.

Yes I do indeed have Duke's mod. I'll have a look at the thread.

Thanks!

EDIT - Yes I am stupid :P I had set it up right but never saved where I had given Vilja the Companion Ring needed for Duke's mod. Prob died before I did a save. Right - back in biz I hope. END -----> Or maybe I did save and it started crashing afterwards..... will check an earlier save. It is the part when she summons the horse.... END

EDIT: Hmm, As I have CM companions loaded for the Heart of the dead quest. When I got my dog scrapper beside me Vilja can summon her mount. When he is missing and doesn't turn up even when using the ring or fast travel it crashes. Will try to remove Scrapper with TES4Edit and see what happens. On a side note, when I removed the included companions in the CM esm I gained quite allot of frames in the waterfront district. END

FIXED for now. Disabled Duke. Did a save. Re-enabled and so far so good... END

Thank you, I guessed it may be local pathing after trying vilja in a few more places before going down to the beach (RL - lol, to avert anyone asking which beach in Oblivion) today, she seems okay elsewhere. I have not tried many companions in Oblivion and previously with Vilja v1 did not stay in that area for any length of time so I was not aware of problems in that area.

@ Locksley glad Emma remembered my problem solving and you got sorted out, a few of Spooky's mods requiring clean saves seriously need adhering to, random seemingly un-connected small problems with this can cause loss of hair, especially when its a few mod changes/re-installs later :)

I went to the grey mere to catch some Sleep, Vilja entered with me, at first around 11 pm she wouldn't agree to sleep so i did, when I woke up at five am she wanted to sleep and said there were no beds around even though there was one by me (wasnt using it anymore lol) I was unsure on how to properly use her bedroll (at her behest lol We're both sleeping on the floor, my my she is a trigger) it seems she tried to use the bed (not owned I bought the room for the night) and incured a bounty put she paid it off. weird she had no problem sleeping at the bandit camp i cleared out.

Jeesh she never wants to sleep the same time I do, always staying up late drinking ale and reading books :P

She won't be able to sleep at any of the inns. So there I just leave her in Follow mode while I sleep. At least that way I don't have to hear her complaints. You'll find that she can sleep in the mage and fighter guild halls without any problems, so if you're a member of either of those consider spending the night there instead of an inn.

Yes, her 'normal' sleeping hours are between 1 and 7... horrible girl!

Taverns - the beds are 'prohibited' for anyone but you. She cannot sleep in them. Give her the bedroll, or tell her not to sleep, or siimply keep her in follow-mode when sleeping in a tavern (she will not ask for anywhere to sleep when she is in following-mode. I dare not think of where she might cuddle up once you have clicked the rest-button)

(hehe, you beat me with two seconds or so, CDCooley ;D)

Thank's Emma!
I think the biggest problem I was haveing was companions getting stuck in attack mode on enemies they couldn't get at, to where I would have to abandon them and they would show up later with "The Nasties", sounds like this should no longer be a problem, at least for Vilja :celebration:

Actually, if Vilja is in direct combat, you can still activate her so that you can talk to her and tell her not to fight. It might take a few tries, but it does work!

Well, I will only have to go back a little ways ... and now that I know what to expect, maybe if I have to leave her, it can be somewhere warmer. :hehe: I felt really bad about that.

That's one of the strange things with Vilja... I *know* that she is just a npc in a computer game, but I'm also concerned that she might be freezing, be tired, be hungry... not to mention that she might get injured!

Is this ability or should we say feature cancelled, when the player is doing any daedric shrine quests or the main quests?

Congratulations to the new release, Emma! :)

Thank you Osiris :)

Actually haven't tried the Alternative Start yet :D
I'm about ready to start a new game and dont feel like doing the whole escape from prison thing again (and forgot to save before exiting last time I was there). I can always go to the Waterfront to start your mod. I was just wondering how it started, basicaly wandering if I needed to enter the sewers then exit again to trigger you mod.
Anyway, sounds like a great mod  Cant wait to give it a try.

No, you don't have to go through the sewers in order to play Vilja. :) And you don't have to have the journal entry from the tutorial, either.

Hope you will enjoy her company! :)

No, if I remember correctly the ship will shown up in Anvil.

I think that was in earlier versions? Now I believe you choose your destination. (But I may very well be wrong)

Woo hoo, Vilja is now in my game! Thank you.

I did encounter something odd. My character was level one, we were in All Things Alchemical in Skingrad seeing if there were any strawberries for sale. Vilja refused to speak to me because she thought my character was nvde, but he actually wasn't. She behaved normally once we'd left the shop but her disposition seemed very low, nothing that a few sweet rolls and strawberries couldn't fix.

Let me guess... You were wearing a Mythic Dawn robe you found in the prison with clothing value 0 and nothing else?
I realized that Vilja would respond this way to the Mythic Dawn robes (0 value), and therefore she doesn't actually say that you are 'nvde', she just says something about you 'walking around like this'... Hmm.. maybe the greeting actually is "If you refuse to dress, then I refuse to talk". I should have changed it to "If you refuse to dress properly...." After all, being dressed in a Mythic Dawn (enemy) robe wouldn't be considered as dressed properly, now would it ...

And watch out, you better put on something else if you are planning to walk around in the city. Vilja won't be happy and you probably cannot afford that many strawberries...

(When she likes you better, she will not get angry if you are nvde or dressed in Mythic Dawn robes... as long as you don't walk around in city exteriors dressed like that)

(Although, when it's Father's day in Sweden, I'm certainly NOT planning to give my husband a 20 years old platina blond nord as a gift!!! :chaos: )

Aww, you big meanie! lol j/k :D

That's right, you have Father's Day in November there.

Actually, if Vilja is in direct combat, you can still activate her so that you can talk to her and tell her not to fight. It might take a few tries, but it does work!

Good. That's a relief. Sonia had an annoying habit of getting into scraps with Imperial Guards at times and I would end up having to slaughter several guards to protect her just because of that annoying AI bug where sometimes when fighting a monster/bandit or whatever, and a guard joins then fight, they will end up attacking your companion, too (I am guessing someone gets hit accidentally). Likely the guards may still be a problem, but I think I know how I could handle that with my new Warlock (paralyze or an area calm effect, then leave the scene). ;)

That's one of the strange things with Vilja... I *know* that she is just a npc in a computer game, but I'm also concerned that she might be freezing, be tired, be hungry... not to mention that she might get injured!

You and I must have similar RPG sentiments when we play. :)
I was always giving Sonia the foods that I imagined 'she liked', telling her to get some rest when my character goes to sleep, then letting her 'sleep in' in the morning while my character was selling loot or doing equipment maintenance, etc. And I always kept my cupboards filled with quality wine for her to drink. And you thought Valkar was just an inconsiderate beer-swilling Barbarian! (Though he would *not* put the seat back down, had they a toilet! That's where he draws the 'Man' line!) :P

I figure RPGs are for RPing, right? Anyway, it will be nice to have a companion who does have favorite foods and seems to appreciate them!

I just converted the omod for Vilja and will be trying her out soon as I sort out my load order.
