[RELz] Companion Vilja ver 3 - thread no 10

Post » Sat Aug 27, 2011 10:38 am

Thank you, that is very helpful!
I'm not sure what the problem is about, but probably there is a variable I have set to the wrong number in the dialog box for the ham meal. I will check this when I get back home. If you or someone else can again confirm the problem that would be great.

Thank you so much :)

Keeping with the theme...

I've not had time for another Cozy Evening with Vilja. However, after reading Mystery05's comments I recalled that I had written down the three items Vilja asked me to supply for the Evening that came off so poorly. Miracle of miracles, I had not yet thrown the list away. The items she wanted were .....drum-roll.... HAM, potatoes and strawberries.

As mentioned, this was my second Cozy Evening with Vilja. The first came off perfectly. I sadly have no idea what she asked for that first time. No reason it couldn't have been ham...or any other meat.

Both Evenings occurred in our Weye Manor abode (AFK_Weye).

with as much as i tested this Decrepit id venture to bet that the first meal went off without a hitch becuase it wasnt ham . i havent been able to sucessfully complete any evening with the ham selection. and its not the abode becuase when revert to a save get a non ham optoin and it goes as planned. at this point im convienced at least as i said earlier in MY install and mod load the ham is the issue. so unless somoene else can say they have no problems at all with the ham option. not sure what else i could test to figure out what the problem is.

oh and not a problem emma i was more then glad to help. anytime.

@Mystery05, you were right, there is a little mess with a variable in the dialog where she ask you to bring ham, potatoes and strawberries.

I don't know who made this video, I'm afraid. Maybe you can ask at his thread at Youtube? Or maybe someone else recognizes it here?

VILJA IN ALESWELL AND VILJA IN RED ROSE MANOR ADD-ONS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED!!!

As seen in the posts above, a problem with Vilja's "Cozy Evening at Home"-topic has been spotted and trouble-shooted (many thanks for helping me :)).

The most awkward situation has been in Red Rose Manor, where the "Vilja in Red Rose Manor"-add-on has completely ruined this topic. Also the "Vilja in Aleswell"-add-on has had a potential similar effect when living in the Aleswell Cottage.

Therefore, these two add-ons have now been updated and should no longer cause any conflicts.

Download Vilja in Aleswell at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28702 or at http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Aleswell.htm

Download Vilja in Red Rose Manor at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37842 or at http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Redrose.htm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

One further, less problematic, problem with Vilja's "Cozy Evening at Home"-topic has also been spotted, and it only happens when she wants the ham-supper. This problem is within the Vilja-mod itself, and I will update that esp as well, but unfortunately I won't have time to do so tonight. Hopefully tomorrow, though! (As the problem is smaller - if you happen to get the ham-supper before I have cured the problem, just cancel it and try again).

The Vilja esp has been updated to ver 3.02!

Please grab the new esp-file in the Updates section!

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977
http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Vilja.htm

What is new?

In previous ver 3.01 and earlier, the feature "Cozy evening at home" would fail if Vilja decided that she wanted to prepare a meal with ham. This was caused by a tiny error in a dialog result box, and has been corrected in this update.

Please also note that I yesterday upgraded the "Vilja in Red Rose Manor" and "Vilja in Aleswell" add-ons, as the previous versions of these two add-ons would quite extensively affect the "cozy evening at home" feature.

I had a CTD with the Summon Vilja spell, it may be due to a certain quest stage:
Spoiler
Vilja had just tasted one of the ingredients, after drinking the antidote, she said that she needed to recover for a time. Since she was in a safe spot next to a guard station (from on of the UL mods), I left her there to check a near ruined fort. When I came back, she was gone. When I tried to summon her, the purple swirls started to appear and the game crashed. Since I hadn't summoned her for some time, I started to troubleshoot by disabling all the recently updated or installed mods, to no avail. So I did load an older save, stayed with her until she recovered, after that the summon spell did work again.

So it's not a big problem, but I wanted to let you know anyway.

ive even had it ctd using that spell for no apperant reason and other times it works fine. but i got tired of taking the risk so when i loose her. i just make her quest active. which gives me a marker where shes at and i go track her down. *sighs* ( and hope in the mean time she hasnt gotten into a fight and broke her weapon and thrown it in the bushes as ive given her special weapons that can not be replaced by purchasing new ones )

i swear sometimes its worse then taking a kid shopping and getting out to the car to find out they only have one shoe on.

Reply regarding the specific circucmstances here:

Spoiler
Actually, you shouldn't be able to summon her while she is recovering from the poison, instead you should get a message telling you that Vilja is too weak from the poison and cannot travel. I don't know why you didn't get that  . It has been tested thoroughly and always worked...

Apart from this specific situation, a reason why summoning Vilja might crash the game is if another mod has added a scripted token to her. Yes, this does happen. And npcs or creatures carrying scripted tokens *will* crash the game if they are summoned. Cast Vilja's "start combat"-spell on Vilja to reset her and remove unwanted tokens.

There are also some specific mods that have been mentioned as possibly causing the game to crash when summoning a companion. One of them was a specific circlet (can't recall which one it was) and another one a mod that allowed also companions to wear multiple amulets and rings. Look over oddities in her equipment which might cause unexpected issues.

You can use the esp you already have - the only difference is that the new package includes the voice-files, so it's not necessary for you to do anything at all :).

A good tester is always welcome and always needed. Vilja is still being continuously tinkered on :)

Hey Emma,

Do you know what could cause Vilja to keep continuously casting healing spells on herself even after she is completely healed up? I keep having to reset her AI to stop her from doing this pretty much after every fight. It also just randomly started, I haven't added or removed any new mods lately.

Maybe you have given her or yourself a new health-draining weapon? I know Arkngt posted a name of a weapon that caused this in the previous Vilja-thread. Look over the equipment you are using, anything that is either health-draining or, actually, fortifying health, could possibly cause these kind of effects.

Do you have Duke Patrick's Melee Combat installed by any chance? I've noticed in my gameplay that if she gets into combat and her enemy critical hits her and sends her flying unconcious (I play with her essential) she seems unable to heal herself to full after the battle (I check her stats and see her health is below her base health). I was exiting and reloading to fix it myself (forgetting I had the spell to reset her AI) but it sounds similar to your problem.

Emma, I'm still experiencing crashes whenever Vilja equips an armor which I have fully repaired, whether it's her default fur armor or any other armor you can name. I have managed to narrow down the problem to the cuirass alone, she can wear just fine any other armor part but whenever I put a fully repaired cuirass in her inventory, and I tell her to wear it, the game crashes. So far the only workaround it's been to resurrect her, thus resetting her inventory at the default state. Basically she can wear just about everything I put in her inventory but I can't let her wear any cuirass I have repaired myself, so I can easily reproduce the problem. I am willing to test this thoroughly if you would just kindly point me in the right direction. I know for sure this is a scripting problem, as turning the script processing off with tscr while her inventory is open prevents the game to crash. Thoughts?

I've never had this problem in my previous playthrouhg with Vilja. Definitely a mod interaction at your end.

I suppose the only difference between an item repaired by yourself and another one repaired by an NPC is that you can give it more than 100% health if your armorer skill is higher than 74. So, I suppose the problem happens when an NPC has an item with more than 100% health. Could be a mod making NPCs repairing their armor (maybe conflicting with another one).

Nope, my armorer skill is still at 30 or so. I made a test by doing a clean save having only 1em_Vilja.esp enabled and the game still crashes, hence I can't spot any mod interaction here. Could you please tell me what's the Vilja script name in which she's told to wear her armor? Not that I wish to imply it's somewhat bugged but it might be a good start point for me to debug the thing in some way.

It's not even a script, it's a simple common AI-package. Could it be a corrupt save causing this maybe?

I don't have the slightest idea. It's been like this forever, since the very first time I had her wear any cuirass I have repaired myself. It looks like she can wear just about anything else, including armor repaired by NPCs. I'm going to to revert to an earlier save before I met her and see how it goes.

Well, trust me to break something that always worked. ;)
Spoiler
Actually I was surprised that she walked off at all while she was recovering from the poison, I tried to follow her, she seemed to be heading towards our house, but since she stopped, bent over, every two steps, I lost patience.

I actually had expected a message that she could not travel.

I'm using SDR (Sneaking Detection Recalibrated) by Saebel which, I think, uses tokens, so that might have caused the problem? I'll try to test this a little bit more, but I'm leaving on a holiday very soon, so I may not have the time now.
