[RELZ]Companion Vilja ver 2.1 - thread no 2

Post » Wed Nov 03, 2010 6:34 am

Really love this mod, only gotten to play a couple hours with her, but its obvious how much work you put in to this. Love how she actually knows where we are and makes little comments. Poor thing got seasick when we ended up at sea. And i guess she misses her sister cause she bought me and herself matching blue outfits so we ran around like twins for a little bit. Shes not quite fond of my style though, keeps complaining that i need to dress better, but i need armor to survive lol. Can't run around in dresses all day.

Anyway great work, vilja makes just exploring so much more entertaining, decided to take a break from questing and just explore now that i have some company to make wilds less lonely. I think i need to change her arrows into something less dangerous though, she likes to use my butt as a target.

Great to her that you and Vilja get along so well :).
Did you manage to do the Bloated Float quest without any problems with her following? I've only played it with her two times and was a little worried people might have problems.

And if she uses your butt as a target - at least we then know that she is using arrows in her bow! :P

Just exploring is (IMO) one of the sweetest thing with this game - that there's always more to explore. I quit fasttravelling long ago and run/ride whereever I'm going.

Thanks! BTW, neat that she'll make potions out of ingredients you give her - didn't know that.

Update to the Bow Testing Project: She uses enchanted modded bows fine as well, so the issue of her not firing arrows at all (i.e. not the known glitch of companions not firing arrows at times) seems to be solely connected to scripted bows. I'll try a couple of different scripted ones to check if it can be narrowed down even more.

Oh, there's many things she'll do in wander mode, I think it's often quite amusing to just watch her do her own things while she is smalltalking to me. She doesn't make potions of all ingredients - there's a topic about making potions, and there you have a choice when you can ask her a little of what she can use.

It's good to hear that her bowmanship is now improved, and if you can narrow it down, I would be interested to know what bows that causes problems.

Another question. Vilja has an armor rating of 24 with her current set. My plan was to up the AR with Shield enchantments, but after enchanting her boots with Shield 15 it still shows up as 24. Does she still take advantage of the enchantment or is it a wasted effort?

EDIT: If I cast a Shield spell on her it shows up in her AR.

My long term goal is to make her 100 resistant to Shock so my mage can go back to her assortment of AoE Shock spells w/o hurting Vilja. The Storm Ring would be perfect.

I cannot really say how it works with constant enchantments on companions to raise AR. As a Shield spell shows up in her AR, one can suspect that your enchantment doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

Have you checked to see if there's a different with a game-original item that is enchanted with Shield?

CDCooley and I have talked a *little* about possibly add in so that she can learn some more simple spell(s) in next version, then probably something like shield, as restoration seems to be way more her thing than destruction.

No special dance?!? :o Well then what the heck have I been feeding this girl all these strawberries, sweetcakes and Surrille brothers wine (yeah, yeah, it's the cheap stuff) for???
/begin HanSolo_impression "No reward is worth this!"

LOL... Laura's dance was indeed... very... special :D Suitable for a girlfriend, but not for a friend who is a girl ;).

She gave me a potion last night (Restore Magicka) How sweet! She sure knows her way into her http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a400/Elricwolf/Oblivion%20screens/Elric%20Dravenwulf/ScreenShot71.jpg's heart.

She should probably make a few "Flame Resistant" potions for herself, though - I have lately given her a bow and arrows and told her to keep a distance from foes, but she still gets a little "singed" on occasion by Elric's rare stray Fireball. :flamed:

I *think* fire resistance is one of the potions she will make if you leave her in wander mode with the right ingredients. I added in so much so I can't recall exactly which potions she will make and which she won't make.

That's the truth. There were a few times when we were "exploring" the wilderness looking for a quest location and she commented "Don't take this the wrong way but... Are you sure you know where we are going?" Yup. Just like a real world female companion! (I always kill, maim, disable and otherwise ignore the ADHD-proof Quest Compass thingie in my game, btw. It's not a True Elder Scrolls Game if you can't get lost)

Agreed! You are *supposed* to get lost in Elder Scrolls games, you are *supposed* to desperately search for a quest-item impossible to find! Daggerfall dungeons, anyone? :D

It seems we have reached 200 posts again!
I'm amazed - and of course very happy - that Vilja has caught such an attention!

I'll go and start a new thread, and once I've copied and pasted what I want from the first page of this one, I'll tell the moderators to lock this thread.

Well Emma... now that you mention it... I did do the Bloated Float quest with Vilja with my last character, a Khajiit Bard. I tried to make sure she stuck around (as I recall, I made sure she stayed in the room with me when I slept) but... well, it didn't work. She seemed to disappear, though I heard her voice as I fought the first bandit. I think she may have gone into the room next to mine, but I'm not sure (for that matter, I'm not even sure if that door actually leads to a room).

Now, I never got past the first bandit, so I'm not sure how this is supposed to play out. Is she supposed to come out and help me fight off the first bandit, or does she wait until I kill him, then appear? I'll try the quest again with my new character, and see if I have the same problems.

I gave her a vanilla shield with CE Shield 12 and it shows up in her AR - so it seems it's player made enchanted items with Shield that doesn't work (I've tried two - boots and an amulet).

I think you probably had her in wandermode with your first character - then she might have went to sleep in a bed in another room (maybe even a locked one). Probably not a good idea to leave her in wandermode right there and then! :)

She's supposed to tag along with you all the time.

Allright! Good to have that knowledge! I'm sure others will ask later on, and now we do know :)
