[RELZ] Companion Vilja ver 2.1 - thread no 3

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:47 pm

Another issue, I congratulate Xtudo for his custom Vilja, she is really a beauty!
However, I will stick with the original one; somehow, I think she fits better into the picture I have in mind about that lovely nordish girl.

I know Exactly what you mean, it's Just not Vil Ja... :nono:

I finished it too, but since I'm a cat I wasn't too impressed by the reward

It really was!!!

Nevertheless, even with the quests done Vilja is still good for a surprise or two, it is amazing how a single MOD can change the game. The way I play when she is around is so much different from how I did it before; Oblivion really appears like a different and more enjoyable game.

Now I am looking forward to the release of the next update.

May I ask, of curiosity, have you previously used companions for Oblivion?
I can imagine that she changes your Cyrodiil quite a alot - she certainly changes my gameworld. In the long run it *is* nicer to have a friend in this world, and, after all, one doesn't have to drag her along the whole time.

Release of *next* update? :D Well, that will probably take a while ;)

I (naturally) agree with the two of you - Vilja is supposed to be a nord girl from Solstheim, not a vampire. But, regardless what I think of that, people will continue to want to change her to their personal tastes, and then it's a lovely idea of Xtudo to offer some alternate heads to either use or use as a base to tinker on (it's a lot easier for those who want to modify her if there are already esps with alternate head-meshes). However, CDCooley and I are only supporting/upgrading the original Vilja.

Brozly, on a side-note - how is your game working now? Is Vilja's fatigue again OK?

I've droped back to an Earlier "Near Basic" FCOM save, the last one poped up with the second Fatiuge stat, and I didn't trust it.

@Emma,

Yes, I did. I tried Sulterics Viconia 1and 2 and the merged version and I installed Saerileth for a short time.

Another one is Wintermoon from Middark’s Heart of the Dead Mod, since HoD is one of my must have Mods I will always end up with either Kat or Wintermoon as a companion.

The problem I have with those MODs is that they do not add much when the quest is over. Therefore, I usually park them somewhere and leave it at that.

I also tried Companion Sonya and Red Sonya.

I do like DeepFreeze’s Valeria and Illi the Mindslayer, booth have quit a funny dialogue and an excellent AI like all companions he created.

In general, however, most companion MODs I used so far got removed after some hours of game play.

Vilja is the first one that will stay with me as long as I play this game, and that will most likely be for quite some time. At least as long as you and your fellow modders continue to add things that breathe new life in a rather old game.

Maybe you should really consider to add a romancing path to her. I may be old fashioned, but I think that a relation like the one my male character has now to Vilja must end in something more than pure friendship. That is how relations between different genders had been designed, I suppose.

Sigh...

Well, I'm glad that you consider Vilja vital enough to keep in spite of the problems with your saves.

Thank you :)

I believe I'm probably too biased to reply if there are other companion mods that have this kind of depth. I *think* that Vilja sort of belongs in her own cathegory.
But you might want to try Ruined Tail or Heart of Dead - these are more questmods with companions than companions with quest. I have *not* tried them (started with Ruined once, but the mod put a burning inn on the top of my abode, and I loved my abode more than the companion I had just met up with... gonna try him another game), but have heard they should be good.

I'm sure there will be mods coming along to keep you busy with Oblivion until TES5 arrives :).
And then it makes me happy to know that Vilja will continue to roam cyrodiil in your game ;).

Yes, you are probably right... I should probably consider adding some kind of *optional* (like in 100 % optional) romance path for her. According to the forum threads, my e-mail inbox and PM-boxes, she has quite a few admirers who would like to be able to eventually win her heart. But, it's not something to slap together in a day or two, so for now you have to live with the platonic relation you have with her. Although... if you listen to what she says if you have completed her first quest and she likes you well enough... isn't she already in love with you? I don't now... but I do believe there should be enough in there to roleplay an implied love story. If I add this, it will be a perfectly 'non-advlt' romance - after all, I'm voice-acting her myself and I am a shy nord

MORE NEW CONTENT

Vilja now also has a swimsuit designed for the TGND-body! It's based on the TGND underwear by Luchaire and Kalia and adapted for Vilja by Xtudo. Like the HGEC bikinis, the skintone will change if you decide to change Vilja's race.

As I'm in my cottage, I haven't been able to update my website, but the TGND-swimsuit is available at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977

There is a screenshot in the gallery.

You want to see her when she is *not* smiling?
Then I suggest that you stock up with *plenty* of strawberries, sweetrolls etc, and in the middle of the city, you remove all her clothes. Then you walk around with her outdoors in the city for a while. It won't take that long before you will know perfectly well how she looks when she is *not* smiling...

Haha - this happened to me before and she has some pretty amusing dialogue! Don't look at me like that - it was accidental, I swear! I was just changing her inventory and she was set to use armor and I had taken it for repair or something... :whistling: (To my defense she had other clothes in her inventory!)

Another issue, I congratulate Xtudo for his custom Vilja, she is really a beauty!
However, I will stick with the original one; somehow, I think she fits better into the picture I have in mind about that lovely nordish girl.

I agree in that I wouldn't change her too much. I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about her looks from the first screenshots I had seen, but once I saw her in game, she seemed much more attractive to me; there is something about her characteristics, her voice and face that seems to go together to make her seem more real than other companions and NPCs, if that makes any sense. At first, from the initial screenshots, I actually thought she was older; I think it could be the kind of old-fashioned hairstyle, the platinum blond hair and her rounded face that gave me that impression. Not that she isn't pretty in her own right, but, here in the west, we sometimes have a warped sense of beauty, and not always natural one. Just seeing a picture of her didn't really do her enough justice. She has a Scandinavian beauty (which my eyes aren't used to seeing every day), and I had to experience her as a complete package to truly appreciate her.

That said, I wouldn't mind trying out some different hairstyles on her. I installed Growlfs Animated Hair mod for the Imperial City, and as soon as I have a chance, I'll take her on a trip to the IC and let Vilja try some different hair (I know they are wigs - I wonder if that will be affected by her choice of Casual or armored dress...?) I'd like to try her out as a redhead maybe, with loose hair or maybe short, like a bob or shoulder length.

I definitely wouldn't mind an optional romance for her. I think I already kinda imagine that there is more than friendship there (it's an RPG, after all!). I mean, what (straight) guy can stay "just friends" with a girl he is always traveling with, exchanging gifts with, sleeping near and pretty much spends all his time with! I'm afraid it's just not in our blood! :P

I'd be perfectly happy with it being not advlt-rated or super graphic. Fable had it just about right, I think. Imo, when crpg romance cross that line too much, it starts to lose it's immersive qualities and just becomes pr0n. I'm hoping for at least "T" for Teen, though. :D

When Vilja said: "You know what I really want" the first time, my char actually was a bit "WTF?" Turned out it was purely innocent, of course, so I guess it probably says more about me than anything else.

Personally, I can live without romancing added and I also think it's pretty close to one as it is in certain ways. But I'm also sure it would be a very popular addition.

Hehe!
Well, to her defense, if she likes you well enough, she won't mind being nvde as long as you aren't in a city exterior. and if you embarrass her that badly by having her nvde in the city, you deserve every drop of disposition you get :D.

I think there is one advantage with the Oblivion mesh (which I used) compared to (many of) the custom ones: the facial expressions are (IMO) more lively and realistic. That's what I wanted to achieve. She may not be quite as beautiful as some of the CM beauty-companions, but her face somehow appears more 'alive' (again, IMO).

If you get the Apachii Goddess Store as well, you'll find more than one whig for every day of the month for her. I'm not sure if those by Growlf are included, though?

I see... Maybe I should add in Heneri as a companion in next version, and then ask if you'll say the same about her?

It was at the weaponsmith in Chorrol, I believe. At least the smith there is a woman, but since I'm using TIE, she also has a male "Hired Guard" there in her shop. Oops! :D
Her disposition has been pretty steady at 100 for awhile, only dropping slightly now and then if I run out of her favorite things or can't otherwise oblige her requests right away. Also, every so often she asks me a 'trick question' for which there seems to be no right answer, as in, "Do you think this outfit makes me look fat?" to which, even the best response sometimes gets a "I don't think you really mean that!" But please, don't change that. It's the little things like this that really make this mod stand out. The only thing I might like is another response option like "" for such questions. j/k, well partly. ;)

I noticed this as well. That's part of what I mean by how her mannerisms, tangible personality, looks, and voice acting and accent all come together to make her feel like a "real" person.

Ah - thanks for the heads up. I don't know if that store supports the BAB body. I keep finding more reasons to switch to another body mod, but I really like BAB and I have alot of clothes and armor for it. It's impossible to decide which one to switch to, though b/c most are shaped like they have silicone implants.

TGND is very nice, particularly in back, however the top leaves a "little" to be desired so it's kinda the other end of the spectrum. Not sure if I'd like to have every woman in Cyrodiil look like that. Maybe if there were at least different shapes between the races or something.

Are the Apachii Goddess wigs/whigs animated in the sense that they don't clip through the body so much? I like the long hairstyles for women, but most of them clip badly unless they are 'rigged' to move with the body.

I see... Maybe I should add in Heneri as a companion in next version, and then ask if you'll say the same about her?

Hmm... don't know anything about "Heneri". I tried to search for info, but I have no idea who you're talking about, so that went over my head, I'm afraid. ;)

Haha - yeah, I think I've been fairly obsessed with it since about 1996, but I have played other games occasionally... ;)

Well, never played Fable much, only in boring times like if I was stuck somewhere during military service with not much but books and an xbox. Anyway, in Fable you could sort of develop a sims-type relationship and even get "married" but it never got too graphic - when you went to bed the screen blanked out (there was a very short sound sample - like a moan/sigh). Fable had it's good points, but you didn't miss too much. :P

I believe it BAB supported in Apachii Goddess Store. I'm using HGEC but would prefere Robert's female body (sounds funny :P) any day if there were more outfits for it.

I think there are both types there, but I'm not sure.

I don't find the lack of romance option a problem ... my char is rather used to getting what he wants in that department, so it is refreshing to find someone who doesn't fall for his charms quite so easily--in fact he sees Vilja as more the 'sisterly' type, strictly off-limits. Funny that now when he encounters 'a lady of interest', he finds himself sneaking away for a night, and feeling strangely guilty about it too. :ooo:  I think as wholesome and naiive as Vilja is sometimes, she's almost become his conscience, in a way--which was totally unexpected, but very enjoyable from a role-playing standpoint.

Sigh...

Well, I'm glad that you consider Vilja vital enough to keep in spite of the problems with your saves.

The biggest problem is that it takes so long for any Symptoms to show up, I had 90+ game hours on that last one before she "shut down", the first I noticed the second stat for Fatigue was at 60hr.
I'm not 100% positive the two are even related, but with All the Companions I've had "shut down" have all had Extremely high Fatigue stats.
I tried Ref Scope, and FormIdFinder, but there was nothing under Active Enchantments, or anything else I could determine.

Yes, you are probably right... I should probably consider adding some kind of *optional* (like in 100 % optional) romance path for her.
it will be a perfectly 'non-advlt' romance - after all, I'm voice-acting her myself and I am a shy nord

I think it's amazing and refreshing that there are so many ways one can roleplay Oblivion, with or without companions. Vilja-the-conscience isn't something I had even thought of, but now when you say it, it sounds about right. She seems enough naive and innocent to play that role.

As I have by now some idea of the massive amount of mods you are using I think I can in a way understand why your game doesn't' want to work like you would like it to... Still, I honestly do hope that you will find the culprit for this particular problem, which seems to be rather game-breaking.

Ah yes, I doubt anyone could compete with Bruse :D. You only advantage in such a competition would probably be that you are less ticklish! I do believe that the horse whisperer in Anvil has some unique comments on Vilja - talk to him if you ever pass by there.

So you're not even running Extra Wounding now, but get the same issue? Can't see anything obvious that pops up in the load order - in fact, our mod lists are rather similar. I haven't had any Fatigue issue yet, but as you say it takes a rather long time for it to rear its ugly head I'm still keeping a check on her stats.

As I have by now some idea of the massive amount of mods you are using I think I can in a way understand why your game doesn't' want to work like you would like it to...

It actually seems like a rather modest mod list to me. I'd guess many here (me included) have even more mods running. :bolt:

But, yes, it can make trouble shooting odd issues rather complicated.

I did have Several more mods installed on the previous game, (I thought I'd resolved thr issue Several times now, and each time I start throwing More mods back in), This game actuallt Did have Mart's wounding enabled at the start, but disablrd before I got to Vilja, again. I'm not even Sure that was a problem, however CorePC mentioned that testerd were haveing problems with it.

Have you tried to enable Mart's wounding before you add Vilja and afterwards disabled it?

If it wasn't running when starting with Vilja I doubt it is causing the issue. It's not that testers are having issues with the current release as far as I know, it's rather that it will be possible to turn on/off features with the upcoming one. Where did he mention that testers are having problems with it?

I found thehttp://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1100341-npc-fatigue-problem/page__view__findpost__p__16087022I was thinking I remembered, I guess he Never mentioned anything about Testers, just a recomendation...
I have reverted to an Earlier save from the Same game, before I added all the mods back in, I had extra wounding enabled, but I hadn't picked up Vilja yet, previously I didn't remove it until Just before I noticed symptoms with Vilja, it seemed to make a differance at first but then eventualy her Stats started raising, and I figured I'd better punt.... :violin:

Thanks, I had missed that thread. Weird issue. And redcomyn who had the same issue had never used Extra Wounding - so it basically seems unsolved if I understand it correctly. I have something similar with Realistic Fatigue, namely that NPC's can be close to death, just lying and breathing heavily if low enough health, but that's a known issue. Also, there's (or seems to be) a slight incompability between Realistic Fatigue and Vilja in that she also can be stuck in this mode. It has only happened twice and casting Restore Health on her makes her come up on her feet and heal herself.

EDIT: A question regarding Vilja's ingredient searching/collecting, which is a very nice and fitting feature. I wonder if it would be possible to make it so that she follows the PC generally while in this mode, but of course stops and picks ingredients on the way? That would be so neat IMO.

That's about where I abandoned my Last game, when we got to Bruma and went through the Gate, she just fell flat on her face, I don't know if I tried Healing her then, however in previous games it had no effect.
I've never used Realistic Fatigue or any Modifers to effect their stats, that I'm aware of, here's is a list of All the mods I have ever had installed.

My current game I'm using Streamline, Pluggy, Uncapper, Silent Voices and Fast Exit.
I did notice Corepc mentioned Streamline, I only have StreamSave and Purge enabled so I can't imagine any effect from that...

That's about where I abandoned my Last game, when we got to Bruma and went through the Gate, she just fell flat on her face, I don't know if I tried Healing her then, however in previous games it had no effect.

In my game it hasn't happened as a bolt from the blue sky - both times she has been so hurt in battle that she's stuck in this twilight zone between RF keeping her down and not "dead enough" for her own scripts to revive her. At least that's what I've reckoned as other NPC's have the same thing with RF. But if you've never used it it seems to be different issues - or I'm wrong in my reckoning. Also, her Fatigue stats have never been weird in my game.
