[RELZ] Companion Vilja ver 3.0 ! (thread no 7)

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:39 am

I had left Vilja to go shopping while I was doing some "alone time" stuff". I then installed Vilja 3 and, of course, went to the inn to get Vilja to join up again. I was amused when it turns out that she had spent the money I gave her on booze - lots of nice wine. And what do you think her first comment to me was - while we are here, why don't we get something g to drink.

Really made me chuckle - especially since I just started my vacation and had poured my favourite drink as a celebration. Just goes to show that she is not only aware of what's going in the game, but also in RL - note to self, must hide the strawberries before going to bed :)

Good. Is it Xtudo's vampire version you were refering to? If you hade made your own unique vampire Vilja, there were also some ai-packages you needed to transfer, following the instructions CDCooley provide in the Customization package.

Tried updating to just Vilja 3, without the custom version, and got the same result, game crashes as soon as I try to load any save. Tried without the FCOM fix file as well, same result. Switched back to 2.0 bsa and 2.3 esp everything fine again. Will try again once I get out of the last HOD dungeon and see if that makes a diff, Vilja is not in the HOD dungeon with me. Have not made my own custom version but have thought about making a Vilja as TangMo version just for the humor aspect.........Think I will try a Kaleen version once I get the update sorted out instead though.

I wonder if maybe some other mod has added a scripted token to her and that's the reason why it doesn't work for you? We have been testing so thoroughly, I really cannot understand why you get CTDs when updating, scripted tokens is the only thing I can think of.

Now, if you are really, really, having problems with this, I think one of the new features in Vilja 3 will be very helpful for you. If you should be forced to uninstall and reinstall Vilja, you can go to Heneri in Cheydinhal and cast Vilja's Start Combat-spell on her. Vilja won't attack her, instead you will get a messagebox that will allow you to set Vilja back to approximately where you were in the storyline. This includes updating topics, giving you a summon-spell for a certain animal companion, and setting her story about herself and her committment to you properly (well, at least approximately).

Still, see if another mod might be the reason for your difficulties. If you have anything that could have given her a scripted token, I imagine this could be the reason. (I suspect CDCooley has more (and maybe better) suggestions on this, but he's in the states and probably at work at the moment).

HOD shouldn't be a problem, but it almost has to be some sort of scripted token. Here's something you can try before the upgrade that should get rid of any problem tokens.

1) Go find Vilja.
2) Take everything she owns out of her main inventory. (You don't have to take her pyjamas or items that are in the red or blue containers.)
3) Open the console and click on her.
4) Type "Resurrect"
5) Type "RemoveAllItems"
6) Close the console and give her stuff back to her.
7) Save the game.

(Step 4 gives her all of the clothes and items she had at the beginning of the game, so step 5 throws those away so you can give her back the equipment she should have.)

If it still crashes after you've tried that, then you'll have fully uninstall Vilja and reinstall her. Of course, if you're going to do that you'll want to take all of her stuff including whatever you've put in the red, blue, and pygamas containers. As Emma said, you can then get her back to approximately the right quest stages by casting the attack spell at Heneri.

A small question, suppose we are fighting vampires, are thera ny possibliity that Vilja or any other
companion for that matter can be infected with the vampire disease? And if so how do I cure her?

When Vilja is infected by any illness (unless is a non vanilla one, using a special script) she cures herself.

Well, I took her Swords away and gave her a bow, cause she kept running in front of me...
I don't think she liked http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/ab289/Brozly/ScreenShot4-1.jpg... :whistling:

Vilja used to store her arrows in the same zone of my characters anatomy, when I left her behind in a dungeon. She is definitely an excellent marksman, that Obviously didn't like when you have all the fun :P. Fortunately she didn't hurl fireballs!

Just updated to Ver. 3. She is hysterically funny.. I guess Stoker was talking to her and she turns around and says to me "That man (or some such thing) talks way too much". Coming from Miss pvssyrbox herself I thought that was really funny.

Thanks again for such an amazing companion.

Usually she aims for my character's head. I'm not sure if that's better or worse. :P Although lately I've been finding Vilja's arrows scattered all over the floor after a fight...and usually nowhere near the intended target. Maybe I should stop giving her so much mead.

When I tested Vilja and Stoker together, he was standing in a corner in our abode, staring into the wall, and he said his phrase about "I certainly have an excellent view from here" or something like that. Vilja instantly turned to me and commented: "What a nutcase!"
Then she walked up to him, initiated conversation with him, and the first thing she said was: "Stoker what do you mean by having an excellent view? Last time you said so, you were staring at my behind".

I have updated the two first posts in this thread with people I had forgotten to credit.
Please, if you feel that you should have been in the credits list, please let me know... It certainly haven't been my intention to leave anyone out!

It seems I've started out from the credits list for ver 2.0 rather than from ver 2.3
There are 3-4 names missing... I'll update it. I'm so sorry :(

Right... I've updated the credits list, both here and in the "Vilja Documentation package" that is a separate download both on my site, Nexus and TESA.

Again, if someone feel that they should have been on the list, please let me know.

:touched: Loved again

My youngest made a comment earlier, she wondered if I had made a suggestion for one of Vilja's comments, something we have made a joke of before was the careless guards losing bits of their anatomy, I said no I think Emma has just had a similar thought about that old fashioned wording.

Had a slightly embarrassing moment with Vilja leading the way, my youngest wanted to see how it works, so I showed her the option, Vilja took the lead towards 'somewhere interesting', had me curious for a while when we turned into the Imperial City, eventually to the Aboritorium, then she disappeared into a wall. Then it dawned on me, WhoGuru's Perrugias Passage (above us), went upstairs and Vilja was waiting inside, where she proceeded to walk us right next to the four poster bed which was next to a point I had set as home , my youngest looked at me, and I said "Vilja must be wanting a back scratch like mum eh?". She laughed.

I will be careful where I set home in future :)

So the new noise reduction in in it's new bsa :ahhh:
Thanks for these Emma and Xtudos

Just FYI, I put the meshes for this through PyFFI and the readout seemed to indicate some not insignificant optimisations
It didn't take long either and was very easy to do. Maybe something to consider?

Really nice mod, Emma! It's great to have a companion that's able to talk - in contrary to CM Partners, which I'm usually using.
Just a quick question: can Vilja repair/recharge her armor/weapon on her own (like CM Partners), or do I have do do it for her (like RTT)? I'm sorry if it's in the readme, but i couldn't find it.
Well, time to go adventuring!

No, you'll have to do it yourself. These features would require OBSE dependency, which Emma/CDCooley are trying to avoid right now.

Emma:

I have been playing a new game with Vilja latest version and have run into anotherr instance where she does not engage in combat without casting her combat spell (this is same behavior I had with her at the Bloated Float). She did not engage in combat in the tomb during the Unfriendly Competition quest.

However, she worked as normal during the Battlehorn quest where we fought the raiders.

Now that could be because the two people you meet in there aren't actually hostile. They are forced to attack the player through the quest script (startcombat player). So maybe Vilja is looking at them and thinking "they aren't enemies, so won't attack them"?

I wonder if it's the same with the bandits in the Bloated Float - you can talk to each of them before fighting them, so maybe they aren't hostile either, and are scripted to attack?

Shadowborn has the core of the problem. Some "enemies" really aren't enemies, they are just forced to be aggressive to the player.

In the Bloated Float, the enemies aren't in any of the standard enemy factions. I suspect that's so the bouncer and owner don't get involved in the combat by accident.

Argarmir and his henchman seem to be set up the same way. They attack the player but aren't in any enemy factions or particularly aggressive.

There are probably more of these sorts of quest enemies and Vilja won't be entirely helpful. We can't really fix this without making a list of all such NPCs and adding special scripts to force Vilja to attack them. I don't want to start down that path.

Ah, I see. Perhaps I'll make a request thread to see if someone can make a dialog entry for repair, because that would really make my (our) adventuring a bit easier. With Emma's and CDCooley's permission of course.
