[RELZ] Companion Vilja ver 3.0 - Thread 8

Post » Thu Mar 10, 2011 10:55 am

New Vilja-add-on

Well, this isn't exactly a *Vilja*-add-on...

I have a housemod called http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28702, which I have just upgraded to ver 2.

For this ver 2 (which includes a number of features that you can read about in the link above), I have made a special "Vilja-add-on". Which means that if you live in Aleswell with Vilja and use the add-on, Vilja will have extra dialog and a number of new things to do while you are staying there. The Vilja-add-on can be downloaded both from the link above and from the Vilja-page on either my site or Nexus. Be aware, though, that you HAVE to have the Aleswell Cottage mod installed to use the add-on. Here is a description of what the add-on does:

Vilja in Aleswell

Requires:
Oblivion
Companion Vilja ver 3.0.1 or higher
Aleswell Cottage ver 2.0 or higher

If you are using my Aleswell Cottage and have [url=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977Companion Vilja[/url] by me and CDCooley in tow, you might want to use this add-on. It adds new dialog to Vilja - dialog that will only be available while you are in Aleswell - and it also gives her a number of new things to do while you are staying in the cottage. Among other things, she will take up painting, and if you let her paint ever so often, she will now and then actually complete a new painting that she will be happy to decorate the cottage with. She will also help the local farmers, bring you a bottle of beer, take care of your garden, go shopping and actually return home with some goods.

Sounds irresistible. :)

Also, thanks for 3.0. I really appreciate its additions. Her spellcasting almost makes her TOO useful in battles now with enemies incapacitated by her Paralyze casting. In fact, she's saved my chars life a couple of times already.

I love this mod with cool hair versions. :touched:

Just encountered a small issue now. If I just wear the "Robe of the Apprentice", Vilja refuses to talk because she thinks I'd be naked?
If you refuse to dress, I refuse to talk...

EDIT: I guess it could be a conflict, so I should post my modlist.

The criteria that Vilja follows to determine if you are naked is: clothing have value; If you don't wear something with value you are not wearing clothes.
You can wear rings and amulets with monetary value, to compensate this.

It's true about her spellcasting skills... if you and she are at a low level, they might make her too strong. And that's why you can toggle each of them on/off. If you don't want her to be too good a fighter, you can just tell her not to use her spells, or to only use a few of them, maybe to protect herself (the helmet and one of the shields). The spells do drain her magicka, and as she is a nord, she doesn't have that much magicka, especially not at low levels.

Meh, she's obviously a modernist, interpreting as she sees fit. :teehee:

Great that it's so customizable but I didn't complain. Love that she uses Shield - I've been able to skip armor on her because of that. And Paralyze is very helpful as well of course - except when she casts it on my char... :)

She casted paralyze on your character? :o

What a horrible little..... Actually, she did NOT do this during the playtest, which was one of the reasons we decided on this spell. Giving her fire-ball is pure disaster (guess who will be her first victim :P), in fact the conclusion was that it was best to not use any on-target harmful spells. At least paralyze won't harm you... it will just make you, eh, calm down for a little while...

Well, I suppose if the player character ends in the position where it was Vilja's target a moment ago... or maybe it's because of a died low on strawberries :P.

Well, she doesn't aim at my char (I hope...) but it has happened in the heat of the battle a couple of times. Guess when my char comes between her and her target just as she casts. :toughninja:

I would chuckle at this too but with my experience and your scripting magic I do not kow what is real and what is not. Does Vilja track strawberries? I think I ever only see one in her inventory. I do not recall if she carries sweetcake and sweetrolls but I would guess not.

Putting things in her inventory doe snot do anything other than make her use them (in case of weapons and armor and torches), correct? So if I put ingredients in her inventory it does not mean she will recognize them (at least the forst two effects as she is static at her alchemy level)?

My assumption is that if something is not done through the dialog level then it will have no affect on her disposition.

Same if I give her a robe that adds +50 to alchemy, she will not be an expert, but is static.

Also, one more question. I use Wrye Leveling, where I pay for level ups instead of using my skills. I then manually distribute my skill points. I have done this in my last test game and notice that only Vilja sneak skill matches mine, her other skills are in the 30s even though I am level 22. How can I make her catch up? Will she only do this through skill use and will they be accelerated?

Emma does BOSS curently have the load order correct for viljainaleswell.esp, I believe it has been added to the masterlist, but ....

Load order (snipped for brevity)
Spoiler

32 AleswellHomeQuest.esp
33 Better Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.esp
~snip~
4A n_Dywyll_Elves.esp
4B 1em_Vilja.esp [Version 3.1]
++ 1em_Vilja_as_Custom_by_Xtudo.esp
++ 1em_Vilja_coolhair60.esp
4C ViljainAleswell.esp

++ Cobl Filter Late MERGE ONLY.esp [Version 1.53]
4D Bashed Patch, 0.esp

Viljainaleswell.esp is currently colour coded orange by Wrye Bash, indicating "Orange: Some mods have changed order. Oblivion and TESCS will adjust for this when you load. However, if some of the mods that you depend made conflicting changes to the same item, a different mod may now dominate because of the reordering."

Or have I got the wrong edition of viljainaleswell.esp (I am using the one from Companion Vilja download files, not the one you also have on Aleswell 2.0 (I think they are both the same file whether you download from one or the other anyway ... but just checking))

I posted Viljainaleswell.esp for BOSS (on the Wrye Bash thread by mistake :() and also posted on the Aleswell Cottage forum on Nexus suggesting that the Master order should be adjusted to avopid having to position the cottage esp after the Vilja one - Have not heard anything back from Emma as yet as to whether there is a good reason to have the current sequence.

Aah understood waiting for replies - I haven't caught up with the last three days worth of postings, but noticed BOSS did not file it under not recognised so assumed ordering had already been addressed, oh well no biggie for now. Thank you.

Edit: Aah lightbulb number two :), correct this time - Just did a list masters, which gets them the right way around, but of course thats using the BOSS masterlist for ordering and not how the esp has it, which are conflicting. Gotchya

Right... Vilja in Aleswell is now upgraded to ver 1.01, both on Nexus and on my website. The "only" difference is that the masters have been rearranged as suggested (many thanks to Surazal for the help! :))
