If you have encumberance on, she could have gotten encumbered by a spell from an enemy and therefore been unable to follow you (you can toggle encumberance on/off in her options book in her skill report menu)

Great that it works now, anyway :)

I requested that Vilja's eternal smiling might be tuned down a bit a while ago so just want to point to http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37279, which seems to work perfectly. She's actually cutest when she's annoyed IMO. :mad:

1) She was being sarcastic.
2) She's a Nord with an odd sense of lovely.

Lol, I've found a bunch of these oddities that people have pointed out to me... Another one is when you are running ahead of her and she says "Why are you looking at me like that?". Very odd, unless you have eyes in your neck... :)

I'm going through these oddities now and see if I can filter them different so they won't show up at the wrong occations, so it's good that you tell me about them. (I don't swear I'll be able to find them all or cure each and every one to 100 % thought).

Hey, I've run into a problem where Vilja will agree to lead me somewhere, but then she just stands there, looking at me. What could be causing this? She otherwise seems to behave normally, except she gets sad when I impatiently tell her to stop "leading" me nowhere. :tongue:

My guess would be that your "1em_Vilja OOO FCOM Fix.esp" is the original and not the updated http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/download.php?id=73668 version. If so, just download the new one and replace that ESP.

hello Emma

first of all i will say thank you for this wonderful companion mod , i have vilja with me on every mission.
in other words, i don't think i can live without here :) its been long time i had so much fun with companion.
We are living in the cotton alleswel and the interaction with vilja is great :)
So thank you for your hard word

Only thing i have is that i can not go further in here quest, i like the slow pace of her quest and story.
it give a lot of immersion and the feeling she is another player instead of npc :)
But am stuck now ( are i think i am ) ,

Selerna, it sounds like something isn't right with the daycounters...

I take it she has also stopped to tell you more about herself?

Have you by any chance added a mod called Cheydinhals Petshop? It changes the global daycounter so neither Vilja nor other mods that counts days will work properly.

There might be other mods that I'm unaware of that also affects the daycounter in a way it shouldn't, so think over what other mods you might have added lately.


Note that IF she is still telling new things about herself, the daycounter IS working. In that case - bring her out in the wilderness, wait where you are for 24 hours. Then wait say 40 seconds for the questscript to fully update. Then repeatedly start new conversations with her - that should make her tell you that she has find a new ingredient very soon, within say 15 tries or so.


If these suggestions didn't, please post your last journal entry as a spoiler here, and I see what we should do to make things happen.

strange thing is that i have new install and my timescale has change to 5 somehow :(
if you not had said about timescale i could be looking for the prob for long time :)
now i also understand why Viconia was not reacting very good :)

What ends up happening is that she pushes Bruse a little while walking over to him to mount, which makes him move back, and then it makes her start all over again with trying to mount, pushing him again. She gets stuck in this loop of pushing horse, trying to mount for several times. Sometimes she gets out of the loop and finally mounts, other times she doesn't at all. I've remounted several times myself to get her to stop and try again and after several remounts of my own, she snaps out of it and mounts without a problem. Any clues here? I'm wondering if it has to do with the different walk animation.

Do Timescale changes affect Vilja? I don't see how. Time still passes, just more slowly.

Also, I'm having an issue that might've already been reported. I tried to search this thread with the search function but nothing came of it. The problem is that when I mount my horse, she will "attempt" to mount hers. What ends up happening is that she pushes Bruse a little while walking over to him to mount, which makes him move back, and then it makes her start all over again with trying to mount, pushing him again. She gets stuck in this loop of pushing horse, trying to mount for several times. Sometimes she gets out of the loop and finally mounts, other times she doesn't at all. If you are standing on a hill, with height differences, this can happen - it will get too tricky for her to mount. But it shouldn't happen during normal circumstances.

I don't know if different walk animations affects her ability to mount. What I DO know is that if you use the sensual walking for Vilja, you should NOT use any esp for this - Vilja's sensual walk is included in the Vilja-mod itself, so taht if you have Sensual Walks installed, she should use it by default, without you having to do something.
If you are using the latest esp that gave her sensual walking, this is based on an older version of Vilja and it WILL make it impossible for her to mount Bruse and to lead the way. But this should then not happen occasionally - she should never be able to mount or lead.

Well, same thing happened again (I was alert and noticed it happened after fighting some nasty zombies) and now she again casts restore health all the time.
Your advise to leave her indoors and leave the cell for full spam period (>72 hrs) did not work then.
Hope it will work now just can't interrupt important dungeon investigation, crucial for a quest. Will try again and report.

One more request: Vilja's gate/walk. Till version 3 Surazal provided patch esp for his brilliant Sensual walk for female NPCs mod, but since 3.0 was released he announced Vilja's sensual gate is now integrated in the main mod.
Yes, but no... she walks like a male. No femininity at all. I saw others approached Surazal with same problem. As I get it he made it work for him. But he's Surazal, I'm not. My Vilja is lovely girl but would be nice if she was walking with more grace...
Could you please talk to Surazal to address the issue? He can help Vilja to walk like lady again :D

There's a new and faster fix for that broken behavior. Cast her Start Combat spell on her. (She won't start fighting herself, but you will get a chance to say she's acting strangely and then she should disappear for a moment and reappear all fixed up.)

It does work. I added support for the walking bit into the main ESP file myself. The only thing that I can think of that might be a problem is if you have an custom Vilja mod loaded that's meant for an older version of Vilja. Maybe you have a custom appearance mod? Maybe one of the old FCOM patches? If you do, those need to be updated to the latest versions. Old patch mods will also keep her from being able to take the lead.

If Vilja has trouble mounting Bruse the best thing you can do is just ride away. It might not seem very nice, but pretend you're trying to keep from embarrassing her. You're seeing an animation glitch that is made worse if she's on uneven ground but it can happen for other unexplained reasons too. It sometimes goes away if the player isn't watching her and if that doesn't work the game will simply force her onto Bruse when you get far enough away without using the mounting animation that's causing the problem. One moment she'll be standing next to him trying to mount and then the next she'll be riding. It doesn't look great but unless you're riding away from her backwards you shouldn't see it happen.

I'm good with that. I didn't even realize that the game would self-correct like that if you leave sight. Love the pretending idea. That's great. :teehee:

Just looked through the Sensual Walks discussion to try and find the Vilja problem you mentioned. The only one I found was related to using MAO (and probably Chapel Shop in conjunction with MAO). I did post a solution which seemed to resolve the problem. In addition, the latest release of Sensual Walks now detects the presence of MAO and automatically applies the solution.

If you are not running MAO, then cdcooley's comments are more than likely to be the problem.

NEW ADD-ON: Vilja in Red Rose Manor

If you are using my http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1177435-relz-red-rose-manor/page__st__20__p__17481959__hl__red+rose+manor__fromsearch__1#entry17481959 and have Companion Vilja by me and CDCooley in tow, you might want to use this add-on. It adds new dialog to Vilja - dialog that will only be available while you are in Red Rose Manor or in the area right outside it - and it also gives her a number of new things to do while you are staying in the manor. Among other things, she will take up painting, and if you let her paint ever so often, she will now and then actually complete a new painting that she will be happy to decorate your home with (not as many as in the Aleswell add-on, though, as there aren't many places in the manor that I find suitable for the purpose). She will also help out in the garden, bring you a bottle of beer, go shopping and actually return home with some goods. And you can ask her to sit down with you at one of the fireplaces or at the dinnertable. A number of tasks she will also perform spontaneously, without you having to ask her. These occations are based on random 100 and will probably not happen every day.
She will also have additional pvssyr and comments related to the manor, and if she is with you while you are doing the quest for the manor, she will comment on this as well.



Install
=======
Just drop the bsa-package and the esp-file in your Oblivion/Data folder. Don't forget to check the mod when starting the game! And don't forget that you have to run both the Red Rose Manor mod (ver 1.0 or higher) and the Companion Vilja mod (ver 3.0.1 or higher) in order to use this add-on!



Incompatibility
===============

None that I know of, but please read the caveats below.


Caveats
=======

The raking animation will stop working if you leave the cell where Vilja is and then later return to her. She will then just be standing there. This, I assume, is because the ai-package is added to her via a scripted token and doesn't exist in her npc-ai-inventory. Also in some other cases the scripted tokens and her original ai-packages will be struggling with each other. Occasionally, you will find that if you ask her to sit down with you at one of the fireplaces, she will now and then raise up, say something and then sit down again. This seems to be related to which ai-package she originally should have been performing, so it happens at some hours but not at others.
If you try to summon Vilja while she is doing a task that places a temporary scripted token in her inventory, you won't be able to do so. You will receive a message about this, but the message is slightly irrelevant, as it refers to things that happens in the original Vilja-mod. The reason for this is that I cannot alter the original Vilja for this add-on - I have to use work-arounds, and that's why I have re-used a scrip-condition to prevent the game from crashing if you summon her while she has a temporary token. I will attend to this with the next version of Vilja.
Red Rose Manor only consists of one cell with two entrances, one main door and one balcony door. Sometimes, Vilja's AI isn't sufficient to make her choose the right door. Also, npcs aren't aware of the Z-level, which means Vilja doesn't know if she is on the balcony or in the garden. In order to prevent problems, some of the instructions you can give her are only available either outdoors or indoors. Trust me, it is for good reasons! It isn't that fun looking at her trying to climb up from the garden to the easel on the balcony, well, maybe the first time, but not later. So you can for instance only ask her to go and paint when she is indoors.

If you run into any kind of odd behaviour you should be able to sort it out by talking to her over the topic Red Rose Manor again, as that will remove all tokens related to this mod and set all variables to 0.
