That might be, but this very specific problem is caused by that right after Vilja through dialog has been given a scripted token, the player fasttravels to a dungeon before her AI-package has started to work. As she never goes shopping at The Best Defense, and the whole problem mentioned in the UOP-thread was about merchants being absent from The Best Defefnse, I think we can feel very convinced that the problems are in no way related.

Perhaps we could, but if Sealwarrior's problem with Vilja begin on Saturday between 08.00AM - 10.00AM that might be related to his problem with Vilja. I think we should wait and see what Sealwarrior have to say about this first.

You're right about one possible cause and that's the player should always wait 5-10 seconds before you fast travel. :)

I would think a stuck NPC means a stuck script, where a condition is being/not being met. Would be great to target a character in console and stop their scripts. If that somehow reset their package that would be a good tool. I know you can toggle AI and combat AI but I think that is for every character not target?

Perhaps a companion should have something in the script to look for a key press which would halt all their processing and reset them. Don't know enough to know if that is possible.

Well, it's part of the finetuning we are doing now, actually ;). Not exactly what you say, but a way to reset Vilja in emergencies.

I've noticed it seems to be Primaraly, when I hit them (Companions in general (Accidently, during battle)) they don't regain their Full health. I wondered if it might be due to Ignore Freindly damage... If there's a way to resolve it... :shrug:

No, I don't think so, I've Drasticly reduce my LO for awhile, I'll have to Verify with a minimum, I'm not on my system right now so I can't list LO.

Ya, trying to get a readout on her Health stats yet, but, Definatly, if I hit her, her Health bar will not fill completly. :shrug:

I don't generally Hit my companions on Purpose, but,... Well sometimes they just Run in front of my sword after I've swung it... :whistling:

As I see by the list of your mods, you have both 'Get Wet - just droplets.esp' and 'Get Wet.esp' checked. You must check only one of them.

Ok, Thanks, I don't think it's Allways been Ithildin(I didn't have it when I first started getting this Type of problem) but It definatly changes the scope of where to look...

That weapon's scripted effect does a ModAV Health on the target. If Vilja is set to Essential it's script won't affect her, but that's about the only way to protect her.

Hi Cdcooley, it doesn't seem, to make any differance with her set to Essential, (Just verifed) She had a Base Health @ 357 and Health of 52, and it won't raise any higher with heal spells. :shrug:

I apologize for my late response, as I have been at work for the past 8 hours and have been unable to test out the various fixes that you all have mentioned. I have managed to fix the problem with one suggestion, but I wish to thank you all for the support and report on testing the other fixes, and the end result.

@Emma,

I thank you for suggesting this, as it was something that escaped my mind completely. Sadly, it did not fix the problem. I tried waiting for the cell to reset, which I have set to 3 days, in both an inn and in the vampire testing cell (as there is a bed there.) Both attempts made no progress, and Vilja seems to remain an adamant shopoholic, at least for the time being. Regretably, I never posted my load order, which could have saved time to help pinpoint the problem. Regardless the problem is now fixed, and your advice was not in vain, so please read on if you so choose.

@Leonardo2,

I thank you for this suggestion, as it is something I would not have thought up of. The only problem with this is that I currently use the newest UOP Supplemental fix, and have been regularly updating them as Arthmoor makes them available, so I am not sure if the bug this wonderful addon fixes is the true problem, as it is already..... Fixed. Sorry for that, and I will post my load order for reference, just in case.

I must thank you and Emma for this, as this was the fix that remedied Vilja's "shop till you drop" complex. After going to Colovian Traders and bringing Vilja to my PC via console command, everything went back to normal. Granted, after I spoke with her and she bragged about the good deal she got buying 12 pairs of iron boots, there was a minor glitch after I exited the dialogue menu only to have her talk to me again, but I am sure this was just the script correcting itself. A brilliant idea you two conceived, and I thank you for it. I will still test this out for a while and see if there are any other discrepancies that I should report, but I believe Vilja is ready to continue her adventures in Cyrodiil.

I am honestly not sure why this persisted for so long, other than the fact that I fast traveled right after I told her to do the shopping. I will try to allow the script time to get situated before I do something impulsive again. I thank you all for your help, though I was not expecting to cause so much trouble. I hope this is just an abberation I alone am experiencing, but if it is not then I hope that you, Emma, and CDCooley will find this resolution useful for anyone else. I am happy to have contributed something to this fantastic project, and I wish you luck in the releas of ver 3. I will post my load order now as a reference, just in case:

On a side note, @Brozly

I can confirm this to be true, not only for Vilja, but for other companions as well... In my case, Wintermoon from HoD (and a few CM Partners,) Companions Viconia and Stoker Wolff, and a few others have experienced the same problem with those weapons and their god-like scripts. I usually try not to hit any companion with me when I had that sword (or any others in that set) equipped, but nothing is perfect.... My aim being one such thing. This is also for the sake of reference and interest.

I am glad that you got the problem sorted and that Vilja now is fully functional again. The information you provide also confirms that the built-in-fix we are finetuning now will sort out the problem you experienced. You are not the first one to reporting this, two persons have reported the same, and during similar circumstances (teleporting away instantly after telling her to go shopping). We know the source of the problem - a hidden scripted shopping-token and the player teleporting away, so therefore the fix that removes the token in 'emergencies' like this should really work.

Can you provide any guidance about the shopping bug .... uhhh... I mean feature? Do I need to give her money? Can she shop for better armor and weapons? Or shop for a new robe (horse riding in that does not seem practical)? Does she recognize the clothes from the store in Better Citties that has riding equipment and clothes? Can she recognize and buy weapons added bu other mods or is everything vanilla?

Well, there are various ways Vilja can go shopping... And now I must think carefully, because you have ver 2.3 and I have ver 3 on my computer.

Sometimes, when you are in a city, she will come up with the idea, herself, and simply let you know that she is on her way to a shop and that you can tag along if you wish. You'll have to pick her up in the shop, and she will surely have some kind of gift for you. Don't expect anything overwhelming though (although 12 pair of iron boots can of course be quite overwhelming in its own way). Normally, her gifts are cheap stuff, but occasionally she might come up with something unexpected.

You can also send her shopping, it's in the topic where you ask for her help. As it is your idea she will then ask for 300 Gold to spend. How she spends it is... well... it's like sending your wife to the shop. You never know what she will return with. You can send her shopping when you are in a city and she will walk to the shop (this is where she according to totally three reports in one year might freeze if you teleport away instantly, before she has wandered off.).If you are somewhere else, she will teleport to the market district where you can meet her later and she will have bought things for you (I can understand that it can be very handy to send he rshopping when you want to do something on your own - she'll be happy, you'll be happy and you just might get something nice from her when you return).

As for a manual for the next version, have you decided you will do one or leave it for us to discover on our own (from RL experience, a manual would for relationships would be great!)?

I have written a manual for her dialog (topics), which will be enclosed with ver 3. As some topics are now evolving, I feel this might come in handy, so that people understand where to look for things. I've also moved some of the topics in ver 2.3 to sub-topics, in order to avoid too much scrolling.

Well, there are various ways Vilja can go shopping... And now I must think carefully, because you have ver 2.3 and I have ver 3 on my computer.

Sometimes, when you are in a city, she will come up with the idea, herself, and simply let you know that she is on her way to a shop and that you can tag along if you wish. You'll have to pick her up in the shop, and she will surely have some kind of gift for you. Don't expect anything overwhelming though (although 12 pair of iron boots can of course be quite overwhelming in its own way). Normally, her gifts are cheap stuff, but occasionally she might come up with something unexpected.

You can also send her shopping, it's in the topic where you ask for her help. As it is your idea she will then ask for 300 Gold to spend. How she spends it is... well... it's like sending your wife to the shop. You never know what she will return with. I remember once then Vilja after her shopping, when I meet her again and she said, "...guess what" and she gave me around 200 iron arrows at my level 15-20!! :D
There is one thing that could be improved with the new version if possible perhaps a leveled script to check the vanilla stuff. :)

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but sometimes Vilja has often said "I'm tried of this place let us go somewhere else" or "I thinking of changing my hairstyle... what do you think" maybe little to often imo. That could be replaced with, as you already mention it Emma, that Vilja could say "Have you ever been in ...shall we go there" instead of the previous dialouge lines.

Finally, when you have started the Boethia shrine quest you must tell Vilja to wait before you enter the shrine gate portal, because she would attack on sight and that can cause a broken quest.
