Companions buying things for me? : V

I have heard that you can send companions to buy stuff for you! I was wondering how you think that would work? Will it be a list to tell them

buy 20-steel-arrows from riften for 50 gold?

I would like it to be like that what do you think? (sorry i cant post a link im on my phone so of anyone had a link to it feel free to post it)

It would be cool, but what if your companion get lost or killed while you wait for their return?

well im assuming it works like if your married. you come home from work and the missus asks you for some money and she goes and buys stuff. its kind of like playing the lottery, sometimes she even comes back with useful things like food and toilet paper.
