Companions in Far Harbor

Post » Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:13 pm

This is a thread to discuss what we hope and expect to see in the Far Harbor DLC for companions.

Do you want to bring the gang over from the Commonwealth? Or would you like to travel with a new crew?

What kind of companion quests would you like to see on the island? What would you like to see from any new companions?

I definitely would love to bring Cait along when I visit Far Harbor, General.

I'm sure companions will come with you to far harbor, especially since it is related to nick's agency. As for new companions, I sure hope they add new ones, that would be great!

I only use companions to get their affinity up for quests and story. And even then I use the console commands to speed up the process.

I just can't play a Bethesda game without going solo most of the time.

In any case, I'm sure you can take them with you and we even see the Sole Survivor taking Dogmeat there. It will be strange if Nick can't come as well so I expect him to come in some form.

I think we will only be able to bring selected few companions to Far Harbor.

Dogmeat 90%..

Others.. just not sure...

Dogmeats depicted in the art for it. Seems pretty safe that we'd be able to do that for real, Bethesda has always been good about the marketing material lining up with the actual game most of the time.

I probably won't bring any companions myself though. I prefer to wander by my lonesome, the companions just get in the way for me. Dogmeat is my faithful pet however, and remains at home with me.

I actually laughed seeing how Dogmeat was holding Ship railing during the storm. Lol

No dog can and will do such thing under that situation... but he is no ordinary dog afterall.

I would rather for them to expand on existing companions rather than working on a new companion. I hope we get to bring our companions to Far Harbor, I like to see how Danse would react to the synth colony, it actually may be good for him since he's mopping around too often after his personal quest.

This.

Though I'm almost certain they'll include new companions, and barely develop old ones. Maybe a few new one-liners for whatever you encounter in Far Harbor.

I'd say the 'development' of the current companions will be something along the lines of Lydia once Dragonborn is installed. Some interesting lines regarding some of the new stuff, but not much else. Aside from, perhaps, Nick Valentine - for obvious reasons.

Put in another vote for new companions :)

My dog would be huddled inside the cabin somewhere, probably under blankets, hoping that she doesn't die. There's a reason you have big strong german shepherds trained to knock down a raider and rip his throat out in the game and not tiny chihuahuas that would just shake and tremble at all signs of danger.

Sounds weird, but even though I don't use Dogmeat a whole lot, I would like the option of another animal-type companion.

Another Ghoul or Synth companion would be nice.

Spoiler
(though I know we have a few synth companions to choose from already)

Love my synths <3

I hope to take Curie with me on my journey so that she may discover and catalog more data on lifeforms and such.

No, I just believe it is impossible for a dog to balance on a wobbling ship like how dogmeat is doing in the picture :P

They cannot even stand in a moving car with four paws lol

in skyrim you could bring your companions with you with both dawnguard quests and locations and dragonborne, i would be very suprised if you couldn't bring your followers, its the largest land mass dlc they ever did and i don't think you'll need to explore it solo, and dragonborne and dawnguard added a lot of new companions, so for sure its gonna add some companions, this isn't operation anchorage, point lookout or the pitt, for some reason they didn't allow followers not sure why to be honest but i think the trend is gonna be like how it was in skyrim.

Unlike Skyrim, Fallout companions have unique voices, lines, and comments and generally more in-depth, which is why there are why more companions in Skyrim than Fallout 4. If there were a new companion, there would likely only be one, considering they may need to update a lot of comments for the new companion in quests, in various locations and things like that.

Agreed, but i think at best we will only get a few lines of ambient dialogue in Far Harbor.

well thats true but serana was very fleshed out for a follower, dawnguard and dragonborne added probably a dozen followers, not all of them were complex, most were not but a few were more advanced like serana, and the skall chick also the wizards apprentice wasn't a simple follower, so but i don't expect a lot from each dlc, probably 1 or 2 from far harbor and there will prob be another large expansion and probably another follower or 2 there, they all don't need to be complex but i doubt it will be as numerous as skyrim, there's not a bad selection in the base game, a dozen or so followers, skyrim has about 40 for the base game.

I honestly don't get why there need to be that many followers, most of the followers don't even get used by anyone, and they all have the same voice and no story. I would rather for them to focus on a smaller but tighter groups with personal story, interaction between each others, creating a tighter bond between you and your band of misfits are better than random followers you get for getting them some craps. I hope Elder Scrolls 6 goes the way of Fallout 4. The companions are very interesting and I care about them instead Skyrim where I don't care if anyone died. Serana doesn't have the amount of variation of dialogues they have to record in insert, like the injection between conversations with other characters, the different responses they have at different locations and the various degree of lines they can say to you depending on your actions and how much they like you. I hope if they add a new companion, it would be as in-depth, if not, I would rather for them to improve on existing companions.

It will probably be Dogmeat only since they wouldn't have to record extra lines for him.

I don't think they're gonna recall all the companion voice actors to record lines in case you decide to take them.

Also. It is customary for each DLC to introduce a companion(s) relevant to the DLC'c story.

So.. My bet is Dogmeat only.
