This is the simple view of what's going on
I can't let any of my companions, 3 infact, and not just me, other people can't, my dad can't nor can people I've asked online can't allow their followers equip Glass/Dwarven/Daedric bows, they just use the default bow instead when they are attacking.

Watch the video to understand what I mean, I talk in it also just to let you know what's going on.

Yes i have with Faendal.But its ok since followers need to tank not to do super damage like Marcurio.

Have you tried taking their bow away from them?

Do we really need another poll?

If you watched the video, then yes I have, I removed all her weapons, apart from the bow, I even added different arrows, still didn't work.

Not had this. Working fine on 360, but only with companions you can trade items with to give them other bows. I had Lydia weilding an Elven Bow for a long time. Seemed to work fine.

Its really weird, can you give her an Ebony, or atleast a Daedric, or a glass bow and let me know if it works please? I'm not sure about the Elven one thats why

I've had this happen with two followers so far, Aela the Huntress and Jenassa (the Dunmer mercenary in Whiterim). The odd thing, they both start off with melee weapons if we wander about with weapons drawn. But as soon as a fight starts, they pull out a crappy generic hunting bow instead of the one I crafted and enchanted for them. I didn't bother to check what level Aela started doing this, but my character is 42nd now. I also haven't checked other followers, I've only used four total, but only two of them I have bows and arrows.

Its funny how this does not effect some people
