Companions freeze up

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 8:14 am

Hi,

I have gotten this behavior with both Viconia as well as a few CM Partners companions.

At some stage I summon them, and they show up as a frozen/paralized and then gently tip over, stiff as a board.

They respond to to talking but they can't actually move.

I suspect it has to do with something happening to them in a combat, where I lost track of them, and then when I summon them, that effect is in place and won't go away.

I have tried console commands like kill/resurrect, enable/disable, dispellallspells, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Michi

If you have a save before they became Affected...
What are their Stats, (Fatigue?) Do you have Mart's Extra Wounding enabled??

Ok, so it turns out that when I did a getav Paralysis, it is set to "1". Setting it to 0 makes the companion wake up and walk around. The odd thing is that as soon as I zone (fast travel, enter a building, etc), they get paralyzed again.

I did a "dispelallspells", so I am at a loss again...

(and yes, I do have Marts Extra Woudning on...)

I don't think it is the same problem, but I could be wrong. The fatigue levels are normal.

I never got a real clear answer for it, apparently it's a "Known" problem with the scripts, and best "Fix" is a Reload before the problem occurred.

That's happened to me several times now, they'll generally get "Stuck" trying to attack someone that's inaccessible, so I'll have to leave them, they show up latter Nonfunctional, I tried ignoring them, and they showed up latter http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1095643-melting-body-bug/page__view__findpost__p__16001991...
I noticed mine generally had their Fatigue stats go high, but that's how it Always http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/ab289/Brozly/ScreenShot1.jpg, they'd go through the Gates, and fall flat on their face, operantly not knowing it...

So.... after this happening again with both Vilja and Viconia I scoured the web and there is at least a working theory that it has something to do with poison and poison scripts.

Anyone ever hear something like that?

And if so, then the easy fix would just be to give all companions 100% immunity to poison, no?

For Vilja, the easy fix should be to cast the "Vilja start combat spell" on *Vilja* - that should remove all negative effects from her.

To get rid of it from the other companions, bring them to a safe interior and leave them there for +72 game hours without visiting them. If it is just a scripted spell-effect, as you think, then that should restore them.

I'm not at all sure that a scripted poison effect wouldn't override an immunity on a npc (but I have *not* tested).
