As usual for an onboard chipset video chip, that's pretty awful. It's for business, not for games.

That didnt answer my question or help me one bit.

thank you *sarcasm*

The question here is can the system run it? not, "is it for video games?"

No need to be rude.

And no, you won't. The processor is simply too slow and the GPU is very low end. Like said, it's a business laptop, not a gaming laptop, and generally you can't upgrade laptops (except maybe the RAM).

do you have a habit of telling people what they can and can not do?

I have seen people, even family members upgrade their laptops CPU and the ram and the parts.

and yes I am going to be rude because neither of you have answered my question.

Is there anyone else that will come in this topic and post some assistance, I dont seem to be getting any. *sarcasm*

also I'd like to add that it would be on low settings.

I gave you an answer. With a 1GHz processor you wouldn't run the game. Because neither I or Gorath the Elder gave you the response you wanted, you said that we didn't help you. You made a mistake, if the processor is 2GHz, then you might run on very low settings, but not to any playable standard.
Oblivion is a LOT more demanding than MW2. And with 99% of laptops, you cannot upgrade the CPU or GPU yourself. If you want help of us then you listen to what we have to say and don't demand you're right all the time.

RAM and sometimes the CPU can be upgraded/replaced. However most GPUs cannot, as its simply a chip soldered directly onto the motherboard on a laptop.
AMD Radeon HD 6250 Graphics

While technically the game will start up and you can launch it. It is really not meant for games and will look and play very terribly.

Um no.....that is the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945. A great GPU, actually one below the one I use.

But you originally said you use the 6250....a much lower integrated chipset.

Edit-added link to 6950 GPU.

We never denied you could play MW2. But what 3 people have said now is that you won't be able to play Oblivion to any decent standard. We can't tell you any clearer than that.

According to the HP site, that model either has an integrated chip or the AMD Radeon HD 6250M.

I think it would be best if you posted a dxdiag.
XP: Go to Start->run, type “dxdiag” and hit enter. Click the Save All Information button near the bottom right. This will save a Dxdiag.txt in C:\ by default. Then open the dxdiag.txt and copy/paste the information into your post.

VISTA/Windows 7: Go to Start->Search, type “dxdiag” and hit enter, click the Save All Information button near the bottom right. This will save a Dxdiag.txt in C:\ by default. Then open the dxdiag.txt and copy/paste the information into your post.

I am not getting it from a store on the internet. I'm getting it from a PC store here where I live. This is all the guy told me to write down when I called him. It is a Compaq presario CQ57 with all the specs I have listed.

It is his old laptop that he upgraded and is now selling.

I think you may have been mistaken in getting the information then (or the seller gave the wrong information). That laptop is not made with the 6950, as SomeWelshGuy stated above, it only comes in AMD Radeon HD 6250M or an Intel integrated chipset. Neither of which are capable of playing the game properly. (While they should launch the game, they are really not powerful)

Aging CPU and weak GPU, while again, it will launch the game, you would be stuck on low settings and struggling to get decent FPS.

Still not powerful enough, (actually getting a bit worse) all of the Intel video chipsets are really not meant for gaming. That wont run the game.

If you post a budget we can help choose a PC that will run the game. Also must it be a laptop? You should be able to get a much better desktop for the price.

Nope. If you're looking at playing games you'll need a decent, dedicated video card, and a modern capable processor.

decent fps being wehat you'de like to call 90 FPS or about 30 FPS?

I honestly dont care about the graphics settings, I would play it on the lowest settings and wouldnt care, this is just a laptop im getting to use for school and oblivion on occasion for the mods.

If I can get 15-20 FPS then I am okay. I dont HAVE to have 90 FPS although it would be nice. Sooner or later when I get enough money I am going to upgrade to an Alienware m15x.

Stay far away from Alienware, they are not worth the price. Terrible computers for the price. I mean you would be lucky to hit 20FPS at low settings. Like I stated above, post a budget and we can help you choose good PC. And must it be a laptop?

and my price range right now has to be under 500 dollars.

and yes I have to have a laptop, I dont like desktops. Too big and and just an ass to move.

yes I have heard that the alienware's were a bit overpriced. It was a last choice.

under 500 dollars and yes a laptop.

You really arent going to get a good laptop meant for games at that price-range. The best I can recommend at that level would be this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215120......you may play low-medium settings a bit better....but I suggest waiting until you have a slightly larger budget (such as $650-$700 atleast),

Or what I prefer, is a basic cheap laptop for school/work and a powerful desktop for games at home. That would be the best deal.

Yes I suppose you are right.

I am still getting this laptop and then when the time comes I will buy a PC. The only big pet peeve I have is whenever I go to buy a pc from either HP or Dell, they rip me off.

I ordered an HP Inspiron desktop from HP and then when I called them on my order they said that I had cancelled it, and then they tried to bump the price up on me from 700$ to 900$ so I just just leave it canceled.

the same thing that happened there happened with dell, I went into buy an alienware m11x from them for about 1000$ and then when the time came for my order they said that I had cancelled it and tried to bump the price up another 100$. so I then said again just leave it canceled.
