Comparison and Contrast: Fallout 4 and Undertale

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 5:26 am

I was advised to rename this so that it wasn't a versus thread. So that's what I'm doing, thanks for the tip mod.

Lets compare and contrast Fallout and undertale.

Story:
Undertale wins because it has multiple endings which proves that the developers actually care about . the story.
Modding: Undertale wins because all Fallout 4 has is a bunch of texture mods! THat's it! Undertale wins on this one.
Questing: Undertale has a variety of quests, but what i don't understand about fallout is that all i see is a bunch of super mutants, raiders, and gunners. no quests. so undertale wins again
Soundtrack: Tie. Both games have beautiful music

well, what do you guys think?

You didn't ask permission to re-open a locked thread, did you?
Next time, do so.

I'll move this to the correct forum.

I... what?

First of all, FO4 has "only" (not really) texture mods right now because Bethesda hasn't released the FO4CK / GECK yet. Give it 6 months and the number of FO4 mods will vastly surpass the number of Undertale mods (which, as far as a quick Google search shows there aren't Undertale mods that I can find).

Secondly, Fallout 4 has a ton of quests. They aren't necessarily all great or fun quests, but they are there.

What I think is that you haven't really played Fallout 4. :P

..huh?

first, the official mod tools for FO4 haven't even been released yet.. and even then, at least it still has mods, I can't find any for undertale

its and indie game with a heavy focus on its comedic scenes.. the major mechanic is you can either fight your way through battles, or go through them non violently by trying to calm down or offend the enemy into running away..

its not a terrible game by any means (actually, its kinda fun), but i found the combat to not be very captivating

That and chocobo breeding and materia gave it huge replay value.

I expect materia to play a smaller role like it did in crisis core.

A developer who provides a single, set-in-stone ending may care very deeply about the story. They might feel that a fixed outcome is essential to the story they want to tell. A developer who writes a story with only one outcome may feel just as passionate about their game and their story as a developer who writes multiple outcomes.

Providing information as to what Undertale actually is would at least give us an understanding as to what you're attempting to compare it to. First of all is it even the same genre as Fallout? Is this post apocalyptic, RPG, Shooter, et cetra? It's good you want to bring attention to this Undertale game but perhaps you should provide more for the sake of discussion as I've certainly never heard of it and it would seem I am not the only one.

An indie JRPG and a big budget sandbox game...it's like comparing apples and carambolas.

Undertale is like those games you play on the in-game Pip Boy in Fallout 4. :foodndrink:

Oooooohhh thats that game that looks like earthbound! I'd play it but....sale. also the op's begining post and his avatar makes me think he's a biiiig fan of the tale game. Also the op mentions that fallout 4its has super mutants synths but no quest what does he mean by that? Does Fallout 4 not have quest?! What the [censored] have I've been doing!?

I recall you having said you haven't played Fallout 4.

That sounds about right.

How many quests is a ton of quests in a video game?

Note that infinite copy-paste ''radiant'' quests barely count as quests at all.

Yeah, especially since Undertale was made by one guy in his basemant. :P

I love Undertale, but these two games have nothing in common.
