Is there a compass in morrowind I like that there's no marker and you have to follow the directions people give but I dont understand how I'm supposed to follow any directions when I can't use a compass
for example the first mission for the mages guild in balmora was to find some flowers the lady tells me to go south from balmora.and this is were the problame starts for me which way is south.

No there is no compass, but there is a mini map that you have. Top is always pointing north and you have a triangle type icon to represent you, so that should tell you if you are going North, South etc etc, so yes that is your compass.
