Is Compensation Needed?

A lillte compensation would be nice. most of the people i know who got the game after release gave up after a week due to bugs and went to another one of the big game releases. If they want to keep people interested in the game so they will buy future download content it might be nice to offer something free to get people interested in the game again and show them (hopefully the patch will be done by then) that they have fixed the bugs. It doesn't have to be big. Just a few short missions would be enough to peek peoples interest.

But in their own sneaky, sly way, that's exactly what they've done.
They've released/are releasing the patch around a week before the DLC, so all the people who have shelved this game for the last six weeks are chomping at the bit to play it again. So Assasins Creed etc will be pushed to the backburner because everyone will be eager to play FONV again and for an extra kicker, there will be stuff in there that no-one has seen before (as mentioned above).
If that does'nt get people interested in the DLC, nothing will.
Lets face it, many people would have probably played this game through already (if they were able to) and possibly traded it in by now,but because of the bugs, people have been holding onto it until the patch release which has kept it in the spotlight.
Or as the saying goes 'There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about'.

You've got to give them credit, if it was planned it was genius.
Also bear in mind that this post is a little bit tongue firmly in cheek.

Compensation isn't really required, but I am disappointed about how long it took for the patch to come out (still waiting)

i havent played the game since the first weekend it came out, 17 hours in and i get the DLC bug. After that it has just been sitting on my shelf. I believe we should have some sort of compensation seeing as we have all been waiting months for this patch and not actually playing the game we paid for.

I participated in play testing of a product that felt more like beta than a polished-ready-for-shelves game. I came here and reported in detail a number of bugs.

They're supposed to pay people for that. We're not supposed to pay them for testing.

Not that everyone deserves 20 bucks in the mail or something but a cheap first DLC (like...you bastards don't make any more profit and just do it at cost) would go a long way towards easing hurt feelings.

I originally felt like just an update would fix any mistrust between myself and Bethesda, but after 2 months of waiting for a patch (which I hear rumors of not working or making things worse on PS3), I would at least like to see a reduced price for the DLC since I have yet to see or hear an apology from either Bethesda or Obsidian. And personally I hope the patch fixes almost all the problems so that I will be able to download and play Dead Money without any worries.

I would guess that all these items were originally scheduled to be in the game but removed to push this abortion out before Xmas.
But then i'm just a bit cynical.

I highly doubt it, doesn't seem like tossing a few items in a safehouse when they've managed to litter the entire world with tin cans would be something that would have delayed the game.
