And yes, it's going to be awesome.
There is no possible competitors for the Elder Scrolls world.
There won't be any "competition" in my household. We have four RPG gamers living here and none of us are interested in The Witcher.
Besides, I hate the idea that people think games are in "competition" with each other. This isn't the Olympics. Players can buy and play both games.
Same here, the game looks good but playing a beautiful game as Geralt still pales in comparison to playing a great game as who you want...sure a specific protagonist makes for better storytelling but I prefer to tell my own story.
On the other hand, any game that makes another company step their game up is always a good thing, similar to how Bioware has taken notes from Skyrim to improve the next Dragon Age (or so they say). It would be nice if The Witcher makes Beth want to try harder for TES 6.
I agree with that statement.
I wonder when this all started.
I think the majority of players will pick up games that they feel might interest them whether it is a single playthrough or playing it multiple of times.
Bioware and CDPR are looking to go after the TES crowd with DA:I and TW3.
Fortunately, this new found competition might motivate BGS to try harder.
People just now discovering The Witcher? I've honestly considered some of the series (specifically The Witcher 2) to already surpass TES in many aspects.
I tend to agree. It may be an RPG, but the 2 games are very different from each other in many ways. For me, I can not get into The Witcher's combat.
How so? Personally the Witcher 2 seemed like a mature Fable to me, not only in mechanics but all around it felt like Fable.
I suppose you could say the story is better but it's much easier to tell a tale when you have a specific protagonist that carries over through multiple games then in a setting where you can be any race or alignment.
