Complaints

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2009 10:09 am

Now so far I have seen lots of people complaining about something in almost every post.
Now I know that not everyone can be happy, but still would you people try to have open mind....(I have complained too >_<)
You all want the game to be perfect and like you want it, in other words....
You all want Bethesda to try and make the game for the small group of Elitists and not for as many people as possible, while this would be desirable, it wouldn't be profitable to Bethesda.

Think of it this way:

you own a small candy shop.
You have 3 kinds of candy fruit, toffee, chocolate.
You have 100 visitors a each day
Now one day a Finnish guy walks in and says "I want some http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salty_liquorice".

Now you won't be ordering salmiakki from anywhere since the Finnish guy would be only one eating it, and you wouldn't make profit.

So Bethesda can't please everyone in every way.

Bethesda is doing the best they can, but they cant please everyone.

Just had to get this out after reading the forums :D
btw sorry if my English svcks.....

well thank you for your optimism!

but no matter how many "I've seen so many complaint forums" there are, which by the way pop up from time to time, people are going to keep complaining about everything that they don't get that they wanted sooooo bad and they will not buy the game if there isn't this certain thing in.

but again thanks for the breath of fresh air!

I personally don't understand all the complaining. At least from the PC users standpoint. After all, anything that anybody feels is missing, will be modded by someone. Console users, like myself, will just have to deal with it. Oblivion was the same way. Just deal with it.

Your anology isn't really accurate.

Here's a more accurate version:

You have a candy shop. You sell three kinds of candy - fruit, toffee and chocolate. For the sake of simplicity, we'll assume that each one is bought by one third of your customers.

You eliminate fruit candy.

The people who bought fruit candy complain because it's a thing they value and it's been eliminated.

The people who bought toffee and chocolate candy tell them to shut up because everything's fine.

so your saying there are only complaint about things that were in the series before?
Even so, don't you still think that it is necessary that some things are in the game while others aren't?
I mean at this point I don't care what things are in the game and what not...I buy it anyway because I believe it will still be good game coming from Bethesda....as I said
(please don't take the previous too literally)
before Bethesda does it for the money like everyone else.

Humans can never be happy, even when they see perfection end of story.

Just like Jag1313 said we just have to deal with it.

More the point that I was trying to make is that the people who complain do so, for the most part, because they've discovered that a thing that they value has been eliminated, or not added, to the game. The people who don't complain don't, for the most part, because nothing that they value has been eliminated, or not added, to the game.

I don't buy this self-righteous, holier-than-thou notion that some people are simply above complaining while other, horrible, vile, spiteful people do nothing but. The reality is simply that some people have had things they value eliminated from the game, while other people have not.

Just like the people in my version of your anology who bought toffee and chocolate candy. They're just the ones whose preference happens to still exist. That's it. They aren't foregoing complaining because they're some sort of beatific saints who are above all that pettiness - they're just not complaining because things have so far worked out so that they're not the ones who are losing things they value.

Some people fall in love with certain features and when those features disappear in future games they get a little frustrated and take to the forums to vent or discuss it. Totally understandable. That being said I do think that there were some things that got cut that needed to done away with. But at the same time I see where most of you are coming from when you get upset about the PC not getting as much love from Bethesda as you think is deemed appropriate. Same with the spears, levitation, attributes, etc. Losing these things doesn't bother me all that much but I sympathize with those that have (as gpstr put it) been denied their fruit candy.

;) Well played. You might've laid it on just a bit heavy there at the end, but all in all, most admirably done.

Fruit candy...... salmiakki!?!?!?!?! Stop making me hungry :P Also I agree with this guy,

You're totally complaining about complaining! :)

Complaining is a way of human life. Tis will never end, never stop, and will always be annoying to others (especially those receiving the complaints). Of course people have the right to complain/ discuss about the game on the forums or the developers will not know what fans like or don’t like.

That said if I wanted to, I would complain about a few things i think are important. But in truth I can’t be bothered to. :turtle:

Anyway I wanted to say that no matter how hard you complain it won't get you anywhere with the game if they get more money from somewhere else, don't neglect this part of my topic...I now know that they complain from something they used to have, but the thing is, no one is ever happy until they just decide that they don't care if 1 or 2 things are not they way they want

and I'm sure you have to agree with that

Totally off topic, but your avatar looks like a Jawa with a sword.

And, some of the complaints are valid. I won't deny that. And that is part of what the forums are for. But, like I said, a lot of the stuff will get modded in.

lols :P Are you complaining about my http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magicka avatar?

But yeah, sometimes it can feel like there are more complaints than discussions on these forums which I can understand. Complaining is just something you can't get rid of... like trolls.

lol at magic using Jawas. And yeah, complaints and trolls. They go hand in hand in forums, especially in discussions before a game sees release.

Complaining about complainers gets nowhere and we don't encourage it.

No game is perfect for everyone, there will always be something that an individual would rather not be in the game or they want in the game and it often often appears to come over over as complaining. This is a discussion forum and everyone is entitled to their say as long as it is constructive and civil.
