Complete Skyrim in 2 Hours

Post » Sat Oct 15, 2011 5:53 am

Apparently someone at BGS has completed th MQ in just over 2 hours.

Now this is obviously someone who already knows what each quest is; the location and what to do, so for all of us that haven't played the game yet will definately take longer as we will want to soak up all of the information.

Now for those that think this means the MQ will be really short; the fastest Oblivion was completed in was about an hour so this sort of shows that Skyrim MQ will be twice as long as Oblivion which I think can only be a good thing...

It could also mean they have changed fast travel since Oblivion, making it less easily accessible.

Yeah I found that pretty weird as well. I am slightly disappointed but I guess that's because they already knew most of it and used fast travel and whatnot.

I can't understand how someone could finish an Elder Scrolls game in 2 hours (or 1 hour). Even if they knew what to do. Do the 2 hours include time you spent reloading & replaying certain sections because you got killed, or does that not count?

I don't care ... Main quest is because they made it "main". But it is still as fun as all the other quests and questlines ...
In Oblivion, I only once finished MQ. In 90% of my characters, I never even started the main quest...
If I decide I am a normal hunter in Skyrim, I won't be a dragonborn. I will roleplay as a hunter.

They use buffed characters, they use fast travel, they skip all dialogue, they know exactly where to go. It doesn't mean anything.

Fallout 3 was 75 minutes.

GStaff, from the last thread:
Amazing, on 13 October 2011 - 04:36 PM, said:
One was a QA and the other a dev. They've played through the game like 50 times.

Yeah... no one is going to be close to these times when they were play the game.

Sounds like this might be the longest TES yet considering it's longer than the other speedruns

I'd say that's a fair assessment. The amount of content that's in the game is pretty ridiculous

There's already a thread for this, and yes, it's considerably longer than Morrowind, FO3, NV, and Oblivion speed runs.

considering it was a speedrun, it's really long.

Most RPGs tend to take 1.5-2 hours, so it sounds good.

Did they say what level their character reached in this speed run?

That means nothing.
Morrowind MQ can be finished in ~5 minutes and it's not much shorter than one from Oblivion.

Did they say what level their character reached in this speed run?

Probably 1.
Speedrun is counted from the moment game starts to point you finish the main quest.

I think whoever did this in 2 hours knew exactly what to do and also didn't die...

That comment about finishing morrowing in 10 minutes is real, and it was actually 7 minutes and 30 seconds. It's not just about knowing where to go and what to do. It's knowing where to go and what to do. :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1IRxTN-_kU to understand what I mean. The guy killed like 4 monsters total. These speedruns don't mean anything at all.

... lulwut? What RPG takes 2 hours?

Anyway... I have no problem with this. In Oblivion, it looked impossible to me to complete the main quest in 1 hour, so this time it's going to be the same. However, this MQ taking two hours in a speed run doesn't really mean that it's going to take twice as much as Oblivion's.

I agree.
The fact that this was a longer speedrun than all other previous games means we are in for oodles of content.
And that is just the main quest.

Wonderful news.

I don't think they used buffed characters; it was mentioned that they weren't allowed to use cheats etc. so I presume they had to start out as a level 1 character.

In order to beat the higher level enemies; they possibly just knew of some really good weapons hidden somewhere that they could quickly get to help them. Also the fact that he knew exactly where to go and yes he obviously skipped all dialogue; does would have helped.

I think the average person playing this would not want to skip everything as you would miss so much, so I think the 20-30 hours that have been quoted by BGS could still be plausable...

I'm just disappointed that you can beat it such a low level. I want to fight my way to the top through waves of more and more powerful enemies and then slay Alduin with the last ounce of my strength. Every story deserves an epic quest.

Meh, I'll just give an orpahn my boot and 10 gold to go squish that bothersome lizard for me.

Read my post and watch the video to realize they know ways to skip almost everything.

This thread shouldn't even be here as it gives people a totally wrong idea.

An RPG is not a shooter.
In a shooter you are high level at the end because the game is wholly linear, like mass effect.
This is a TES game where you have true RPG syle freedom.
That it was done at a low level means nothing.
Morrowind was beatable at level one if you knew what potions to use to fortify yourself.

I dont think anyone has ever done that, except for laughs though as it kind of ruins the point of the game.

These are the same people who completed the MQ of both Fallout 3 and Oblivion in under an hour. I wouldn't be too concerned, if anything that shows how much more we have to do in Skyrim MQ-wise. (With it's 2 hour completion, not surprising considering those fellows have been working on the game for almost 4 years) :tops:

I'm thrilled that it took longer for the Skyrim speedrun. I get hundreds of hours of play from Oblivion and I know it'll be that great for Skyrim too with all the side quests and territory to explore.

Thanks for clearing that up.

But, now I'm short 10 gold and a boot. I suppose it's the price of ignorance.
