So I figure the boss fight at the end cannot be won no matter how much you shoot the bad guy, even set on "recruit"
This was a darn fun game, one of the best. the graphics are just astonishing and the gameplay is one of the best FPS games I've tried. So I certainly got my $ worth out of it. But having to just give up rather than play the last (I assume) scenario dozens upon dozens of time seems like a letdown.
EA in the future, make these things winnable on an easy setting so player can get on with their life and enjoy the game. And having an end fight where all you do is shoot something a billion times is just lame and unimaginative.

Make sure you have updated your game in origin to the latest patch which fixes some issues with final boss Battle.

Also when you're fighting final boss, wait until you hear the voice say "vulnerability detected", then use a jaw or alien mortar to take out the spinning claw things on the boss. Don't just go for the body shots, you need to take out those spinning hands

Issues with the boss fight were addressed in patch 1.3... In some cases it may be necessary to restart the level.
