Completely stuck on Jagged Crown quest : V

Hi

Just realised too late (Youtube) that there are various levers and chains to pull to get to the Jagged Crown quickly and effortlessly. Unfortunately I have ended up in a room with an old chieftain and his legion cohorts and no matter what I do or use I can't kill him (can't recall his name now). I just keep going around in circles, climbing steps and dropping down, using fire but to no avail. You think you've killed him but then he crouches down and rejuvenates and you're back at square one!

Can I somehow backtrack and follow the shorter route to the crown. Do I have to kill the old guy?

You're in Korvanjund right. Have you found and used the claw to open one of those "puzzle" doors?

what you're supposed to do to get te crown is in the spoiler

you're supposed to follow Rikke (legion) or Galmar (Stormcloak) through Korvanjund. eventually you get to a claw door. get through that then you are in a room where you have to look for a chain. Pull that then have fun. Go through the door that is now opened and you'll be in the area where you'll find the crown on a draugr. kill it and take the crown.

there shouldn't be a chieftain and his men to kill? Unless you have completely forgotten which side your on... And that chieftain would be essential because he is Galmar.

Or I'm just really confused. if your in a final room with a word wall and the people you came in with, to inspect the draugr sitting on a throne.

Yeah, your description doesn't make sense. The only essential NPC on this quest is the officer of your allies. If you're in a room where the officer tells you to look around for a way to open the metal door, there's a button on the wall. It's on the upper floor, kind of near the entrance where you came in.
