Completely Wipe Out Major Factions?

I was just curious if you can completely wipe out any of the big three factions in the game or do they continue to respawn? Example, blow up Mr. House's bunker of securitrons, destroy every securitron including Yes Man and of course Mr. House.. Would securitrons respawn? If I killed of the entire NCR would they still be around? I'm pretty sure I eliminated every powder ganger and the van graffs but they aren't major factions.

I think they all manage to respawn a bit.. not 100% on the city secitrons though.. Yes can not be killed he just comes back stronger and stronger untill no wait he just keeps coming back ..

I never took out Caesar's camp, but I never saw any Legion respawn in Cottonwood Cove or Nelson, so I think you can take out major factions as long as you're not too picky about your definition of "take them out". Patrols for NCR and Caesar wander around, and there's no reason to believe you'd never see any of them anymore. Both armies are so big it's logical that you'd keep stumbling across soldiers. Securitrons are all planted as best I can tell, so you might be able to wipe them out.

Smaller gangs, by the same line of thought, would be easier to utterly destroy because they draw from a smaller population. I can't think of any that would have randomly placed members who keep respawning.

I killed all the securitrons on the strip several times. they respawn as well.

The same goes for the generic NCR soldiers at camp mcarran, camp forlorn hope and all the ranger stations. only the soldiers with names did not respawn.

You can't 100% totally eliminate Ceasar's Legion because of the Legion Raid Camp, that area respwns about 5 legion.

now that i think of it, that area respawns 2 powder gangers as well, so you can't 100% totally wipe them out either

Fiends will continue to spawn even if you wipe out everyone in Vault3, plus all of the ones who are named. I count on that when I am running short of caps. They always have nice stuff.

Heh, I don't think of the Fiends as a "small gang". They're as big as any of the others, just too drugged to do much unless they're all getting whipped in a single direction.

Can't speak for Securitrons, but Nelson and Cottonwood do not respawn because of scripts where either the NCR moves in to take over Nelson, or Cottonwood becomes irradiated and the Legion abandons the base. You cannot really wipe out Fortification Hill - I went in, used Terrifying Presence on Caesar (was totally worth it), fought my way out, killing every Legion member I came across, then left and came back a week or two later to recover the Slave Ledger for the Khans quest, only to run into quite a few respawned Legion members (including the Gate Guard and the boat guy).

Oh well.... Wishful thinking I guess. I think you can wipe out the minor factions like powder gangers though cause I haven't seen any in hours
