completing the campaign....

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:39 pm

wow its been ages since i last posted something on this forum, everythings different! anyways...

ive got back into oblivion on xbox360, my friend has given me a challenge to complete the main campaign without using magic or scrolls, armor, and no weapons! not even clothes! i've tried to persuade him to let me use scrolls atleast but he wont budge :P we're now in the talks of either hand to hand, or bow and arrows in combat lol. has this been done before? my last character was a breton conjurer so magic was like its life.

any tips or abuse is welcome :D

My only tip would be to pick a race that's naturally hardy. Like an Orc or a Nord or something.

I don't think I'd be able to do it, but it's possible someone has done it already.

Good luck!

Make an Orc atronach, that way magic will be 1/4 as effective on you as it should be. Definitely use hand to hand. If i had to do this (and now I'm considering trying it) I would make
Race: Orc
Birthsign: Atronach
Class: Crackhead
Specilization: Combat
Attributes: Strength and Endurance (maybe swap one for speed)
Skills: hand to hand, alchemy (can you use potions?), athletics, acrobatics, sneak, security, speechcraft (why not)

Do it at a really low level and you might be succesful :celebration:

It depends on the difficulty I think, and doesn't a bow and arrows count as weapons?

I'd raise Speed as high as possible, as well as H2H and for Oblivion Gates just run through and punch things you absolutely NEED to kill i.e

How about use a Breton and use magic for defence and offensive in a buff.
Male or Female
Sign-Mage
Class-Mage.

Alchemy for making potions for Restoration for health potions and Alteration for defence like shield.
Alteration for different types of shields to walking on water.
Conjuration for when the tough gets going and you need help. So summon something like a zombie.
Destruction, fire ball here and a blast of lightning there to get rid of your enemy.
Illusion if you want change yourself as a god, your enemies will run away in fear.
Mysticism. A mage see your naked self 'oh this is going to be easy' uses a fire ball against you, the next thing that mage remember he or she crying their head off when they come to a new world. Reflect spell yeah.
Restoration. When you get hurt so bad, restore health is your nurse.

When you get into those gates, run like a wind and get that stone.

I really hate it when people call the main quest of oblivion the "campaign" this ain't halo or call of duty. Anyway congrats on completeing the main quest.

If you're allowed bows and arrows, then it can be done. An archer should not need armor if he/she can stay away from the enemies - so use poisons to slow/paralyze/otherwise cripple them and keep plugging away. Do your restrictions allow for enchanting that bow, or do you have to find one that's already got the enchantments?

Alchemy is going to be key. You need poisons, you need to restore your health with potions if you can't cast a healing spell, and you'll probably need a shield potion or two from time to time.

Also do rings and amulets count as armor/clothes? If you're allowed those, then aim to get an Amulet of Axes or Necklace of Swords, and the Ring of the Iron Fist, especially the last as it boosts a skill you're allowed to use. The 66% reflect damage isn't strictly "defense" - but it acts like it! The Mundane Ring's 50% resist Magic on a Breton makes you immune to magic, too.

Rings and amulets sound an awful lot like magic to me. :)

If I were going to try this, I think I'd use a Dunmer, Thief birthsign, Combat specialty, with Strength and Speed as attributes. The Dunmer is resistant to fire, and the low-level Daedra use a lot of fire. Dunmer are also fast. Thief birthsign boosts Luck, Agility, and Speed. Combat boosts Hand2Hand and Athletics.

I would want Hand2Hand and Athletics as majors. I would build up Sneak to Apprentice level in the tutorial, by sneaking around the non-hostile rats, but would keep it as a Minor. I would make Alchemy a minor, but spam it up to at least Apprentice as soon as possible. There are a couple of easy early boosts to Hand2Hand:
Spoiler
The skill book outside Vilverin, and watching the two fighters sparring outside the Arena.

I would try to rush through the MQ at as low a level as possible; it will get very difficult to do this at high level.

Question to ponder: Does praying at a wayshrine or temple count as magic? If not, this is one way of healing and buffing. Otherwise you're stuck with Alchemy.

If a mod is allowed i'd say go for H2H and use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36374 in combination with alchemy (for the elemental shield potions ^^)

That would make life alot harder for any foes you might encounter :P
