Jeremy Soule(Morrowind and Oblivioon)

this.

You guys are kidding me right? Guys a hack, the only good thing he's ever produced is Morrowinds theme. Go play Mass Effect, or Windwaker, or Halo, or Diablo 1/2, or Starcraft- or just any video game with actual music and you'll hear the difference. Ugh

It's a matter of taste. of all the game you just listed i've only tried Mass Effect and i have to say it isn't even in the same league as Oblivion and Morrowind.

Jack Wall did the Myst soundtracks, which were quite good. They had a hint of Surrealistic Fantasy.
Morrowind and Oblivions are WAY to high fantasy sounding.

Ahem. Don't forget Robyn Miller, who composed the first two Myst soundtracks.

Hans Zimmer all the music he's done for movies feels so meaningful, just look at Gladiator and Black Hawk Down.

James Hetfield.

What about they made a TES game with Heavy Metal music? It would be pretty strange, I know, but why not to try something new?

Jeremy Soule's music all sounds the same to me. With the exception of the Guild Wars soundtracks, most of his soundtracks just feel like one hazy, endless piece - aside from the combat music interruptions, the music in Morrowind and Oblivion just feel like a long, nondescript piece with no definable beginning or end. This is kind of cool, but I'd take Eric Heberling back in one second. It's probably in part due to the nostalgia, but Arena and Daggerfall's music as a whole are far more memorable to me than most of Soule's pieces for the series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ97I2p4_YY

Riven's soundtrack was simply beautiful. Starting to think about it, I could imagine more dynamic compositions in the style of Myst working quite well in an Elder Scrolls game, especially if it's a more exotic province. To be honest, does Morrowind remind anyone else of Uru in a way? :)

Jeremy Soule composed the music for total annihilation. If you've never heard it then you have no right to say he svcks. Although, I haven't heard him compose something close to that ever since.

Jeremy Soule is who I think should be the next composer. In Morrowind his music was very fitting, good and interesting. The Morrowind Main Theme was just wonderful. His music in Oblivion was not as good as the Morrowind one but it was okay. More Morrowindish next time, mmkay?

The snow tune is my favorite song from all of the TES games, it just set the atmosphere so well.

Lets get Eric Heberling back!

If not I think Jeremy Soule would do another great job anyway.

How about more Skyrim-ish? I don't want "let's go back to this old design because it's what the fans want" to ever, EVER be part of Bethesda's creative process (including music). I want them to make decisions that make sense for their current project. And I thought Oblivion's music was great, but I don't know, maybe I just can't recognize its flaws. Apparently that's an issue I have.

The game should fit the music, and the music should fit the game.

It should feel like the lore described in the books, I'd probably suggest a composer read all about Nords, Skyrim Lore, and the general history of Tamriel before they begin composing so they can get a palette of feelings they wish to convey.

I really hope they have music that can be different for different areas.

I like Morrowind's music, but not Oblivion's. It was way too bland. Out of those on the list, I'd go with Hans Zimmer because he's one of my favorite composers (though I love and listen to most of those off the list). Alternatively, Jesper Kyd, I'm curious as to what that would sound like (check my sig).

But what I'd love to see is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_yzOJjmOWI

Anyway, the poll is kind of redundant. There are tons of possible choices.

I think that for Skyrim some irish influences would be appropriate. And I would love to see a return of some of the music from Daggerfall and Arena, specifically the snowing theme and the inn theme.

You don't know James Hetfield? Wow. Just wow. (He's one of the guys in Metallica)

Anyways, I told that one as a joke. I'd still like Jeremy Soule to compose the soundtrack, but I wouldn't really mind if someone else did it.

Oblivion's soundtrack was pretty amazing. The only bad thing was that when you were walking around the wilderness listening to the awesome music by Jeremy Soule, a mudcrab comes at you moving 0,00000001 mph and the epic battle music starts to play.

So, the soundtrack should be something like Oblivion's, if we had Jeremy.

Yeah. If I was the lead designer, I'd get Eric back on board.

They would need Amon Amarth then, well at least to do the battle music haha. Especially if it is set in Skyrim.

Oh yeah. I know Metallica, of course.

In that case I'll stick with Brian Tyler as the next composer.

Aye, They are awesome.

Even Eluveitie has some nice songs that could work for TES. I often listen to their stuff while playing TES. I even went so far as to put this song into the PC version when I played Morrowind and Oblivion on pc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCd3D0AxMnQ Running around Solstheim while that's playing is pretty epic.

I'm not really sure who I would chose to compose Tes V. Soule and Heberling have done great jobs in the past so why not one of them? Struck me kind of odd that neither were in the poll...

I want Soule back. His 'bland' - as Freddo put it - soundtracks are kind to the ears and don't distract from the games themselves, while still being atmospheric enough to be noticeable and significantly add to the feel of the games.

This
Soule's stuff may not be stuff I listen to apart from when playing the games but they fit the games well
