When I saw this post, it was like deja-vu all over again...

I have the PS3 version of FNV and I can tell you that I've never come across a buggier game from such a large developer and publisher. It absolutely infuriates me that I was svckered into buying a game that isn't completed. If I knew I was shelling out $60 to be a beta tester, I would have skipped this game without a second thought. I would just like to let Obsidian and Bethesda know that because of this mess, I will never] buy another game from you guys on it's release date. In fact, I will wait until there have been multiple software updates, and by that time I'll probably buy it used because it'll be significantly cheaper and you guys won't see any revenue from me.

Shall we discuss the bugs? From about 20 hours invested in this game, this is what I've come up with:
- Constant drops in framerate and second-long hangups
- Flashing textures
- Visual artifacts appearing out of nowhere and disappearing
- Widespread clipping issues with entities throughout the entire game (I love how when I touch things, everything around it slowly floats up a few inches)
- NPC's spawning halfway or sometimes completely in the ground
- Unresponsive NPC's (Not being able to talk to them when I should be able to, enemies wandering blindly with no reaction to me being near or shooting at them)
- Multiple system crashes
- Unfinishable quests due to broken NPC interaction (Being permanently locked in the cell with Silus was my favorite...I got to return to a save game from 2 hours prior)
- Unresponsive controls (I can't count how many times I've tried to shoot or open up VATS and nothing happens until I mash the buttons for several seconds)

All in all, as much as I want to praise FNV, it is in fact an epic fail. I can see what Obsidian was trying to do with the game - there's a ton of depth, and they had a great vision of what the game was supposed to be - but the unrelenting and painfully prevalent bugs in their software are simply unforgivable. Like I said earlier, if I knew I was shelling out $60 to beta test a game I would have passed. I'm thoroughly disappointed in my experience with FNV and if the majority of the comments from the gaming community hold any merit, everyone else is too.

Please update this game ASAP.


This post is 100% spot on with the issues I have been experiencing with Fallout:NV. My PS3 locked up during the gecko hunting tutorial, as well as crashed directly to the PS3 menu on another occasion. All other points made by this posted reflect the exact experience I have had with Fallout:NV. Anyone else in the exact same boat?

Bethesda mods, any update on the expected release of a patch?

I know you've said that your patch will address some quests and scripting issues, which is great for those that lost companions, went into a casino with one, or got locked into being unable to complete a quest... But...

Will the patch address the issues people are reporting that involve:
- Framerate issues, including input delays?
- Crashing, either system lockup or direct to PS3 menu crashing?
- Clipping, enemies and NPC's spawning slightly/mostly/totally underground?
- Flashing texture and poorly rendering horizons?

Thanks for any response on this, from other gamers and mods.

And to those who feel the need to troll the PS3 Issues forum, just to say they haven't had a single problem yet, why are you even here? Clearly there are certain combinations of PS3's, and maybe even certain lots of Fallout:NV discs, that cause serious issues with gameplay, we're trying to resolve them.

I fully agree with this post, the framerate issues in this are ridiculous, even considering when in early development Obsidian even came out and said that the PS3 version of New Vegas would be given more attention - judging from the final product, it obviously wasn't. Please fix the framerate issues and issues associated to this, especially when you promised beforehand that these issues would not be present.

That's the reason I tried to ask the question in the sub-topic. I have a sinking feeling that the patch will address the quest/script/companion loopholes everyone has described. The problems you'd run into even if your game was running perfectly, with no performance/game-play/game-engine issues. The issues I'm trying to point out are a serious problem, that effect tons of PS3 users, and I have yet to see any Bethesda/Obsidian employee even admit that these performance/game-play/game-engine issues exist.

Yes, please include a fix for the framerate issues. I don't care about the game running at 60 frames a second, I just want a stable experience.

It surprised me how much worse the performance/game-play/game-engine issues were in Fallout:NV, compared to Fallout 3:GOTY. I figured, since the graphics haven't improved, and the engine hasn't gotten any more powerful, that the game could only run smoother. Yes I can put in my Fallout 3:GOTY and it runs much better. Granted, when I load my massive 80+ hours save, I will have slow loads and semi-frequent lock-ups. In Fallout:NV, I was treated to these performance/game-play/game-engine issues immediately upon starting the game, but stuttering and full system lockup within an hour of unwrapping the box. Since them, I dealt with all the other issues that have been addressed in my original post.

Still enjoying the game when it's working, and hoping for a decent response from the developers.

I've been having the same issues, except for the being locked in the cell with Silus. I'm locked out... I was preforming my civic duty ( hey if beating one soldier saves 2 I'll throw the first punch) I forgot to have Boone and Ed-e wait and when I attacked Ed-e started shooting him. So I ran out of the room. Now I can't get back in and Lt. Boyd just says "lets get this finished and then we'll talk". Well if we can't talk we can't finish. I would have to go back from lvl 18 to 13 to retry this...I'm not doing it. this one can wait until they fix it. I can't believe all the issues this game is having, I just recently bought FO3 in fact a week before FoNV released. I had no problems with FO3 and expected this game to be great. I am slightly disappointed It reminds why I wait and buy used games. I'll bet GameStop will have a plethora of this game on the used shelf now.
