Coolers should come with thermal paste, usually of the same brand as the cooler, and yes, you need thermal paste with every cooler. A tube of Arctic Silver 5 is $5, but the paste that comes with whatever you buy should be fine too.

It looks like the size will become a problem on that one.

Mugen 2 fits in an antec 1200, as long as you don't have RAM with tall heatsinks.

How simple would it be to move the ram to the second slots and give the heat sink some proper room?

I have the same CPU. and using the Corsair H50 cooler. stock paste.
The rear fan is an intake now across the radiator, so I have a top exhaust fan on the case.

Turn off computer, move RAM, done. As long as the slots are the same color as each other, you're good.

Rubbing alcohol? NO. That contains petroleum byproducts that act as an insulator causing higher temps. Use only ISOPROPYL Alcohol (for electronics) and some Q-Tips...or a cloth.

As far as heatsink goes, the Scythe Mugen 2 is awesome. Your RAM slots may not be alternating colors, but you still should be able to use the secondary "pair" of slots that are further away from the socket and maintain dual-channel.

As for paste or TIM, I highly suggest Arctic Cooling MX2 over Arctic Silver 5 as it has no curing time and is non-conductive, plus it achieves lower temps:

Well, now you've said that the only two real options for RAM slot configurations are both not what you have. If your RAM slots are white and blue, for example, they should either be Blue Blue White White, or Blue White Blue White. Your two RAM sticks should either both be in white, or both be in blue slots. Maybe your slots are different colors, but in the the colors are arbitrary. If you have slots that have both colors next to each other, the RAM can be moved to the two slots that are the same color that are further from the heatsink. If your RAM slots are alternating colors, then you could move them one slot over each to the other two slots that are the same color.

EDIT: Or I could just look at the mobo you linked in this thread. Your RAM slots are Black Black Blue Blue. Your RAM should either be in the two black slots, or the two blue slots. Since you're talking about moving them further from the CPU, I'm assuming they're in the black slots, in which case you'd just move both of them to the blue slots.

That's what I asked. I think this is the most round about answer in the universe to say. Yes, you can move them over to the other slots. Knowing it's as simple as taking them out and moving them both over will make me consider the heatsink you listed.
