Computer Case Dilemma

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:28 am

I'm ordering parts to build a new computer, and I'm not sure if the graphics card I want will fit in my case. I have bought this case http://www.lancoolpc.com/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=18&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=62&g=f , and want to get a graphics card that is about 304mm (around 12 inches.) My problem is with a picture on Lancool's website. If you scroll down to the bottom, it says that that you can fit a graphics card up to 440mm (around 17 inches,) but the picture accompanying this statement shows an arrow that shows 290mm, and one that show 440mm. I am not sure if this arrow s implying that I would need to remove the hard drive cage to fit a graphics card of that size in it, or if I could slide it into the area where the 5.25" drives go. If anyone could help, this would be greatly appreciated.

The video card would most likely be at the bottom of the 5.25" drive bays, so if it's empty, it would fit right in there.

+1

HOWEVER, better check your MB setup. I built a system and the card I went with took up 2 PCI slots because of it's thickness, so it was critical that the GPU card socket lined up properly (it did). This should not be an issue, but when mounting the MB into your new case, be certain that the GPU socket lines up so you get that longer space for the card. Most cases allow you to mount a MB in more than just one position, but you won't know until you put it together.
