Computer Specs for Crysis 2
I dont know why, but i have some problems to run crysis on very high.

asrock k10m780slix3
amd phenom II 940 be @ 3.6ghz
evga gtx-260 core 216
4gb ddr-2 800

19" @ 1440x900

i have never more than 25 fps...
Because your GPU can't handle Crysis on very high that well. I had a 4870, which is comparable, and could barely run it. Also, you might want to upgrade.... Well... Everything starting with your RAM>motherboard>gpu>cpu.

Ive been wondering a lot of these same questions myself. My tech experience is moderate, but I have never done any overclocking. I have always been nervous about doing this since I have no experience in it. I have:

i7 920 @ stock clock
6GB DDR3 1333 Mhz (although I just looked at CPUZ and it shows my memory clock at 667.8 Mhz)
Nvidia GTS 250 single slot
Asus P6T Motherboard (not deluxe edition)

With Crysis 1 I could run on high settings with some of the AA, texture and shadow settings set down a little bit. Usually you can get most things on high and just turn down a few other things to get a good combination that is a compromise of performance and visuals. But for the future, I think it would be worth my time investing in a new single slot card. I have been looking at the 5830 as a possible replacement. Any thoughts on this? I'm looking for a good card under $300.

5830 is a no no. I would get either a 5850, 5870, or run two 5770s in crossfire.

I would try to run in crossfire, but unfortunately with the motherboard I have, most video cards are too wide. I have three PCI-E slots, but only two are x16. The other is x4. The x16 are next to each other, so if I put one card in that is too wide, the other won't fit. Unless I'm looking at it wrong, I can't use crossfire efficiently on my board...

The x4 slot isn't designed for a vedo card anyways. It's there for an external sound card or a wireless card adapter and other devices as well that port would be too slow for a video card because of the lack of pins.
For the other two slots. What cards are you thinking about running in crossfire because it might be there size. If you were to go for the 4890 you might Be ok.

Also I would go for a 5770 by sapphire with vapor-x cooling it is extremely overclockable because of the cooling capabilities of vapor-x. Using that card on crysis warhead with max settings and no AA and I got 30+ fps and when I oced it to the max that overdrive in the ATI catalyst suite allows, which isn't the max overall, i got even more frames. The card is priced in the $150-200 range well below your budget saving you money.
oc the ram make a perfomance boost of 0,0000001%
Have you made any benchmarks to support that statement? i.e. 3DMark or something simple like FRAPS?

Any overclock you do is part of the "big picture". I have a 10% CPU overclock, 8% GPU overclock, and a 14% RAM overclock. RAM was the easiest.

And it's quite a bit more than .0000001%

I don't have 3DMark on my PC anymore, but found an old Tom's Hardware article here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/tight-timings-high-clock-frequencies,1236-6.html

They varied RAM speeds and it made about a 3.5% difference between the slowest and fastest speed with the L2 CPU cache disabled. Not a huge difference, but not .0000001% either.

I dunno, unless they really are able to optimize the game like they say they were, your specs sound like bare minimum for some decent graphics.

I just recently upgraded from the e8400 OC'd to 4GHz - games like bc2 with everything maxed out ran around 30fps...

My upgrade took me a month or so to get it right but its:

Core i7 920 @ 4.3Ghz
Corsair H50 water cooler
TriFire ATI 5870's

now bc2 at 1080p runs at about 180fps with everything maxed out :)

I assume crysis 2 will have no trouble.

Very high my rig can run crysis warhead maxed with little to no lag on a 2.66 GHz quad and a 5770 so you should be fine.

As far as OCing goes, computers these days are idiot proof. Honestly, if you mess up your overclocks in most cases it will reset for you (unless you go crazy with your overclocking by doing something stupid like frying your RAM by going from 1.8V to 10V or something. >.>) and if it doesn't there is always the little button on your motherboard.

As for your mem speed being at 667.8 MHz, 667.8X2 = ~1333 MHz. :] So it is running at the listed speed of 1333 MHz. It just shows half of what it is really running at. I'd get technical here and explain why that is but I really don't want to. :p

How much do you pay for your Xbox/PS3 games? Like $60 per game?
How much do I pay for PC games? As much as I want to pay.

Can you mod games on Xbox/PS3? No.
Can you mod games on PC? Yes. With PC, you can just about do everything that you want and that developers may or may not want you to do.

In my honest opinion, AMD svcks at CPUs. Go with an i7 920 and the ATI5870 and you will have way more than enough.

What this guy said. Yeah, sure. Overclocking just your RAM won't give you that much of an increase. (And I'm assuming that 3.5% increase was obtained by only overclocking RAM.) Overclocking all aspects of your computer will yield much much higher outcomes. If you only overclock your RAM, you won't see much but if you raise the FSB up a bit, you will get dramatic increases. (Since the FSB basically controls how fast your CPU communicates to your RAM.)

As a side note, I'm gearing up my PC with watercooling by the time Crysis 2 hits. I'll just overclock my PC a little more than I usually would and go with that instead of going for the $300 GPU that would probably overheat anyways.

Probably going to do this...

E8400@3.6GHz to 4.2GHz.
DDR2@800MHz to 1066MHz
2x4850@625HMz GPU to 700MHz GPU
2x4850@993MHz MemSpeed to 1200MHz MemSpeed

Here is my watercooling setup if anyone knows anything about that...

Swiftech APOGEE-XT ~OR~ EK Supreme HF
[XSPC Razor 4850] x2
Black Ice GTX 480
PrimoChill - Typhoon Split Window ~OR~ Swiftech MCRES Micro Revision 2 Res
Laing DD12V-D5 (Variable Speed)
1/2" ID 3/4" OD Black Tygon A-60-G Norprene Tubing
EK Top for Laing D5
Some Compression Fittings
[Scythe Ultra Kaze] x8
