Computer turns itself off while playing Fallout 3.

I am on Windows 8 and Fallout 3 is notoriously bad on Windows 8, I had to install the "games for windows market place" off of Microsoft in order to just get fallout to launch. I tried running it in admin mode while in compatibility on vista service pack 2 it still shut down. When I play it, roughly every 10 minutes the whole computer turns off, It does not happen with any other game but Fallout 3, not Fallout New Vegas, just Fallout 3. Can anyone help me and give me a solution?

This should be posted in the PC Hardware and Software Issues forum. I'll ask a mod to move it there.

If your machine is shutting itself off, that usually indicates some sort of hardware problem. How high do your GPU and CPU temps get when you're playing? Have you blown out the inside of your case with some canned air recently? That would be the first thing I'd look at.

Here's a thread with some very useful information on getting Fallout 3 to run on Win 7/Win 8 machines.

FWIW, I run Fallout 3 just fine under Windows 8, using XP SP3 compatability mode.
